✅ Just look at France's defensive performance in the 2–1 defeat to Ivory Coast when Ibrahima Konaté played.

✅ Then compare it to the backline's performance in the 3–1 win over Northern Ireland when Konaté was absent.

He even made Dayot Upamecano look poor. Just compare the match ratings from the Ivory Coast game to those from the Northern Ireland match and you'll see the difference.

For me, Konaté's biggest strength is winning aerial duels, but in other areas he can be error-prone. He has made too many mistakes, and Didier Deschamps should seriously consider partnering William Saliba with Upamecano at the World Cup.

The World Cup is a tournament, and tournaments leave very little room for defensive mistakes. One goal can decide a match because teams can score and then defend their lead. It's not like a league season where you have another leg or plenty of matches to recover.
