πͺοΈBEYOND THE STORMπ¦οΈ
Episode 4: FINALE - True Love Wins
Preamble: Four years. One storm. One decision that changed everything.
From nearly drowning in Lake Baringo to a wedding day that brought two families β and two continents β together.

The hall was packed, gowns and mortarboards as far as the eye could see, and somewhere in that sea of black, Lorot sat gripping the arms of his chair, his mind anywhere but on the ceremony.
Three days earlier, he had finally sat Achieng down.
It had not gone the way he rehearsed it in his head a hundred times.
She had cried, then gone quiet, then asked him the question he'd dreaded most β is there someone else?
He hadn't lied to her.
He owed her that much.
She left without another word, and he hadn't heard from her since.
The guilt sat heavy in his chest even now, mixed with something he couldn't quite name β relief, maybe, or the fear that comes from finally being honest.
"Lorot Chebet Kiplangat."
His name over the loudspeaker snapped him back.
He rose, straightened his gown, and walked across that stage on legs that still remembered, four years later, what it felt like to nearly drown in Lake Baringo.
First Class Honours, upper division.
Four years of hard work, sacrifice, sleepless nights β all of it distilled into the handshake with the chancellor and the flash of his sponsor's camera in the crowd.
He scanned the audience as he walked back to his seat. His mother was on her feet, tears streaming, clapping harder than anyone in the hall.
Beside her sat his sponsor, beaming with quiet pride.
And a few rows back β he nearly missed her β was Sanau, home for the summer, clapping and mouthing something he couldn't hear but didn't need to.
For the first time in weeks, Lorot felt like he could breathe.
After the graduation, things between him and Sanau grew serious.
Their families finally got to meet, and the warmth between them only confirmed what Lorot already felt.
But three months later, Sanau had to return to college to finish her studies. It was a painful goodbye at the airport, both of them holding back tears.
"Distance is just a test," Sanau told him. "We'll make it."
"I'll be counting the days," Lorot promised.
Not long after, Lorot landed a job with the United Nations β a dream come true. With his new income, he was finally able to uplift his family's fortunes, building his mother a better home and supporting his sisters through school.
A year later, Sanau graduated, and Lorot flew out to attend her ceremony, cheering the loudest as she crossed the stage.
By then, neither of them could bear the thought of being apart any longer.
Lorot requested a transfer to the UN headquarters in New York, and luck was on his side β an opening came up, and he got it. Around the same time, Sanau landed a job with one of the major airlines, finally chasing her dream of the skies.
They had a small, intimate wedding in the US, surrounded by close friends.
But that wasn't enough β not for two people whose story had begun on the shores of Lake Baringo.
So they came home to Kenya for a big, colourful cultural wedding, surrounded by both their families, in the very place where it had all started.
From a fisherman who nearly lost his life in a storm, to a young man who found his purpose β and his person.
This is how their story ends. πβ¨π°π€΅
