Dear my people of Embu County,

I am appalled by the eventualities at the Embu Moi Stadium Yesterday in what was supposed to be a Youth Tournament but turned a political activity disguised as a football event.

I believe that the true purpose of such tournaments is 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 and not platforms for reckless and inflammatory utterances emanating from the highest echelons of government and whose words border on the brink of 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.

Embu County 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬, we 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐲 and 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.

Such statements are not mere slips of the tongue; they are deliberate provocations that poison the well of national discourse, erode the fragile bonds of unity, and embolden those who thrive on division and chaos.

In a nation striving for peace and progress, these pronouncements represent a betrayal of public trust, a flagrant abuse of authority, and a direct assault on the democratic principles we hold sacred.

Words are weapons, they can divide rather than heal. By stoking the flames of hatred and intolerance, we risk unraveling the social fabric that generations have woven together through sacrifice and dialogue.

History judges harshly those who fan the embers of violence for personal or political gain—do not delude yourself into thinking you are exempt.

Step back from this dangerous precipice, retract your divisive rhetoric, and commit to fostering harmony, or face the righteous condemnation of a people who demand better from their leaders.

𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, I implore you: Do not allow yourselves to be pawns in this perilous game. Refuse to be manipulated into acts of violence or intolerance that scar your futures and stain our collective soul.

Instead, channel your strength into building bridges, pursuing education, innovation, and peaceful advocacy. Stand firm against those who would use you as fodder for their feuds— 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

The future belongs to you; protect it fiercely by rejecting the siren call of division. We must reject intolerance in all its forms and hold our leaders accountable.

United we stand; divided, we fall.

As Team Lenny Kivuti Patriots, we express our deep concern over the events that took place at Moi Stadium yesterday. We believe that tournament are genuinely meant to benefit the youth of Embu County, but it unfortunately turned into a political activity disguised as a football event. We firmly stand with our leader, Hon. Lenny Kivuti, whom we confidently affirm as the incoming Governor of Embu County.

We also wish to remind them of the true purpose of such tournaments.

The core objective of organizing a county-wide football tournament involving teams from every ward is to empower youth, foster unity, and develop talent at the grassroots. Such competitions offer an organized avenue for discovering and nurturing football talent, opening doors to academies, county teams, and professional leagues.

These tournaments keep young people positively engaged, helping curb crime, drug abuse, and idleness while promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership, and essential life skills. By uniting teams from diverse wards and communities, they enhance social cohesion, mutual understanding, and a strong sense of county identity.

Just to teach them few basic, not to use football platform as avenue to attack other leaders and get self political boost at expense of Embu youths.

This is Gen. Kavote (from Embu) alongside a fellow fighter. They were among the brave defenders who operated from the Mt. Kenya forest. Kavote passed away some time ago still seeking justice that never came. His only ‘offense,’ like that of many others, was telling the colonial enemy to leave their land a stand that led to a deep and lasting betrayal.

Chief Kombo wa Mûnyîrî is widely celebrated as a defender of the Mbeere community’s interests. Born in 1880, he was appointed Chief by the colonial administration in 1912 and later elevated to Senior Chief, a position he held until his death in 1959.

Popularly known as Îkombo, he is remembered for his role in handling land matters, resolving customary disputes, and the sharp wisdom he applied in leadership.

One famous tale says he once decided to test the intelligence of his sons. He fed a cow some beer, then summoned them one at a time to explain why the animal was behaving strangely. His older sons guessed everything from being on heat to witchcraft. But a younger son,known for his love of alcohol and regarded as the family’s black sheep studied the cow carefully and said, “If cows drank beer, I’d say this one is drunk,”

Chief Kombo is also said to have had 25 wives, a significant cultural achievement of his era. Today, hundreds of people from Mbeere trace their ancestry back to him.
