Everyone thinks they can do social media, until it’s their job.
I’ve lost count of how many resumes I’ve seen for Social Media Manager roles from people who’ve never worked a single day in marketing.
From the outside, it looks simple post a reel, write a caption, reply to comments, and you’re done.
But here’s what I’ve learned in my journey:
Behind every “effortless” post is strategy, psychology, creativity, and analytics coming together.
A 15 second reel can take hours of trend research, scripting, shooting, editing, and optimizing.
A single caption can shape how people see a brand.
And one campaign can either build a community or lose trust.
Social media isn’t the easiest job.
It’s one of the most dynamic, high-pressure, and constantly evolving roles in marketing.
So when people say “anyone can do social,” I just smile.
Because only those inside know how much it really takes.
