The Isiolo County Assembly marked Katiba Day with a historic shift of its sittings to Oldonyiro under the Bunge Mashinani program.

MCAs not only took legislation closer to the people but also combined it with door-to-door civic sensitization, empowering residents on their constitutional rights and the true meaning of devolution. In total, four sessions were held in Oldonyiro, where critical resolutions were passed, including the rescission of irregular decisions and the reorganization of Assembly committees.

The relocation marks the start of a five-month move to Oldonyiro, paving the way for renovations of the vandalized Isiolo chambers while strengthening public participation among hard-to-reach and marginalized communities. Leaders say the move is more than symbolic — it is about making devolution a lived reality for ordinary citizens.

However, the highly anticipated State of the County Address by Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, scheduled for Thursday, had to be postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. A new date will be announced soon.
