Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan (Guyo) is strengthening his ties with top national leaders to fast-track development in Isiolo County. Today, he held a strategic meeting with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, focusing on key projects critical to the county’s economic future.

The meeting centered on the completion of the Isiolo Export Abattoir, the fast-tracking of the Crocodile Jaw Dam, and expanding infrastructure projects that promise to unlock Isiolo’s potential. Governor Guyo emphasized the need for unity among Isiolo’s elected leaders, noting that a cohesive approach is vital to attracting national investments.

The discussions build on a series of recent engagements between Guyo and key figures in President Ruto’s circle. Last week, Governor Guyo was the chief guest at a major women’s empowerment fundraiser in Uasin Gishu County, where he was hosted by Farouk Kibet, a trusted aide to the President.

At the event, both leaders pushed for a move away from tribal politics and called for inclusive development, especially in marginalized areas like Isiolo. They urged leaders to champion national unity and focus on uplifting communities historically left behind.

The fundraiser also saw 65 women-led groups receive support from the County Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF), a success story that originated in Isiolo under Governor Guyo’s leadership. Now adopted by several counties, the fund continues to empower women and fuel local businesses, driving economic growth across the region.

Governor Guyo’s deliberate efforts to build stronger partnerships with the national government are part of his broader strategy to mobilize resources and expand development gains for Isiolo. His approach underscores the importance of collaboration between county and national leadership to achieve lasting impact. Read more: bit.ly/4iGg5q7

Liverpool are champions of England once again, securing their second Premier League title in six years. Arne Slot’s men sealed the 2024/2025 Premier League title, hammering Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at a jubilant Anfield to clinch the crown with four matches still left to play.

Heading into Matchday 34, Liverpool needed just a single point to confirm what had long felt inevitable. Instead, they delivered a performance worthy of champions: ruthless, relentless, unforgettable. Mohamed Salah orchestrated the demolition job, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk marshaled a Liverpool side that looked unstoppable from the first whistle.

Tottenham, chasing a Champions League spot, barely laid a glove on the rampant Reds. Son Heung-min and James Maddison offered flickers of resistance, but it was nowhere near enough. Slot’s blueprint, featuring aggressive pressing, vertical attacks, and supreme organization, overwhelmed Ange Postecoglou’s side, just as it has overwhelmed almost everyone all season.

Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan on Thursday issued 1,191 allotment letters to residents of Bulapesa Ward. The event marked a major breakthrough in solving long-standing land ownership issues in the region.

For years, residents lived without formal proof of land ownership. This created frequent disputes and hindered development. With the new letters, families now have legal recognition and can access essential services such as loans and infrastructure.

The County Government conducted comprehensive land surveys across Bulapesa to support this process. Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Hassan reaffirmed his commitment to resolving title deed delays in Isiolo. He emphasized that his administration would continue processing genuine titles for all rightful landowners.

“This is not just about paperwork — it’s about dignity, security, and justice for our people,” he said. “I promised the residents of Bulapesa that I would be the first Governor to tarmac their roads and resolve land adjudication issues. Today, we are delivering on that promise.”

The National Government, together with the Isiolo County Government and the office of the Women Representative, has been actively working to improve public service delivery in Isiolo County, with a focus on the operationalization of new administrative units, particularly Oldonyiro and Sericho sub-counties.

These units, gazetted in March 2022, remain inactive due to financial constraints and limited infrastructure. Both the Women Rep office and the county government have been advocating for the activation of these units to enhance governance and improve service delivery for local residents.

On April 2, 2025, Hon. Mumina Bonaya, the Isiolo County Woman Representative, raised an important question in Parliament. She asked Kipchumba Murkomen, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, about the operationalization of Oldonyiro and Sericho sub-counties. She emphasized the need for these units to improve governance and public service access in Isiolo.

In his response, Murkomen acknowledged the challenges the government faces in activating these units. However, he assured the House that the government plans to operationalize 24 sub-counties, including Oldonyiro and Sericho, by mid-2025. He explained that the government would prioritize areas based on security concerns, population needs, and geographic challenges.

A significant milestone occurred in Isiolo on September 1, 2023, with the operationalization of Cherab sub-county. This unit, carved out of Merti sub-county, became the fourth administrative unit in Isiolo. Andrew Omollo was named Cherab’s first Deputy County Commissioner by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who was the Interior Cabinet Secretary at the time.

The County leaders, led by Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan Guyo and Hon. Mumina, praised the operationalization of Cherab. They recognized it as a step toward improving service delivery and security, especially along Isiolo’s border with Wajir County.

The National Assembly Committee on Sports and Culture has come down hard on the Ministry of Sports, dismissing its response to the Sports Fund mismanagement claims as “unsatisfactory” and “shallow.”

The strong rebuke, delivered during a tense session at Bunge Tower, adds fuel to a growing campaign led by Isiolo County MP Hon. Mumina Bonaya. She has been calling for a forensic audit of the Sports, Arts and Social Development Fund (SASDF) since February.

The committee said the Ministry had failed to answer key questions that Hon. Mumina raised in her request to the House in March. That request followed an earlier statement she made on February 19, where she demanded a full investigation into how the fund has been used.

Speaking in Parliament at the time, Hon. Mumina pointed to what she called a public outcry over poor management of funds in the sports sector. She drew attention to the ongoing struggles of national teams that lack proper funding, uniforms, decent playing fields and well-organized events, despite the government allocating large sums of money to the sector.
