TENSION IN BARINGO AS GIDEON MOI DELAYS IEBC PAPERS SUBMISSION.

KANU supporters in Baringo and across the Rift Valley have expressed mounting concern after party chairman Gideon Moi failed to present his nomination papers to the IEBC within the expected timeline.

Moi, who was scheduled to submit his papers earlier today in Kabarnet, has yet to appear before the electoral body.

The delay has fueled speculation that government forces may be frustrating his bid, with some KANU loyalists fearing a deliberate attempt to edge him out of the race.

Large crowds of KANU supporters, many dressed in red party regalia, had gathered outside the IEBC offices in anticipation of Moi’s arrival.

Tension grew as hours passed without any word from the former senator, prompting murmurs of interference from state operatives.

“This silence is worrying. We are ready to back our chairman, but the delay raises questions. Is the government trying to block him?” one supporter told reporters.

The development comes amid swirling rumors of Moi’s behind-the-scenes negotiations with President William Ruto.

Political observers note that today’s events could signal high-stakes maneuvering, with the potential to reshape Baringo’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of now, IEBC officials have confirmed that Moi has not yet submitted his papers, though the commission clarified that the nomination window remains open.

Empowering Communities through Tree Nurseries

Our initiative to establish tree nurseries in the County has recorded remarkable success.

With a group of 30 members benefiting from the project under Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program

One such inspiring example is the Green shield group in Kaptarakwa Ward.

Supported with Kshs. 500,000 grant to set up model tree nursery, the group have collectively earned an impressive Kshs. 15 million (Kshs. 7 million in 2023, Kshs. 2 million in 2024, and Kshs. 6.8 million in 2025) from selling tree seedlings.

This achievement not only generates income but also promotes environmental conservation and community resilience to climate change.

The project plays a vital role in reafforestation efforts, restoring degraded ecosystems, and promoting biodiversity. By focusing on sustainable land management practices, the project contributes to the overall well-being of the community and the environment.

The success of this project serves as a model for other communities to adopt similar initiatives, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.

By supporting tree nursery projects, the County government demonstrates its commitment to empowering communities to take charge of their environmental conservation and economic development.
