Sunday Message: If Money Is the Root of All Evil, Why Do Churches Accept It?
Good morning, beloved in Christ! It is a privilege and a blessing to come together today in the presence of our Lord. As we gather to worship, let us seek His wisdom and understanding regarding an important and often misunderstood topic: money.
Many people ask, "If money is the root of all evil, why do churches accept it?" This is a crucial question, one that deserves a biblical response. Today, we will explore what the Bible truly says about money, why churches accept tithes and offerings, and how we as believers should think about and manage money in a way that honors God.
Let us begin with prayer.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, eager to learn Your truth. Open our minds and spirits so that we may grasp Your teachings about money and our responsibility as stewards of Your blessings. May Your Holy Spirit guide us to understand and apply Your Word in our daily lives. We surrender this time to You and seek to glorify You in all we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let us read from 1 Timothy 6:10:
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (1 Timothy 6:10, NIV)

Money itself is neutral—it is neither good nor evil. The way we view and use money determines whether it leads to righteousness or sin.

Proverbs 22:7 – "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender."
Matthew 6:24 – "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the
