2027 WOMAN REP SEAT: IS TIATY'S MOMENT FINALLY HERE?
For more than a decade since the advent of devolution, Tiaty Constituency has watched from the sidelines as the positions of Governor, Senator, and Woman Representative have been occupied by leaders from other parts of Baringo County.
However, the political landscape heading into the 2027 General Election appears to be shifting.
A growing number of leaders and residents are now rallying behind the idea that Tiaty deserves a chance to produce one of the county's top elected leaders. The Woman Representative seat has emerged as the constituency's strongest opportunity.
Among those seeking to make history are Rebby Jepchumba Sebei and Rebecca Lomong, both daughters of Tiaty. Their bids have sparked fresh debate on whether the constituency's time has finally come.
The push has received support from influential leaders, with Tiaty MP William Kamket actively campaigning for Rebby Sebei and calling on voters across Baringo to support a candidate from the constituency. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has also echoed similar sentiments during public engagements in the county.
Rebecca Lomong, who finished third in the 2022 Woman Representative race with over 25,000 votes, is seeking another shot at the seat. Other leaders from Tiaty have previously attempted to break the barrier but fell short.
With Tiaty's voting strength continuing to grow and its influence increasingly felt in county politics, many believe 2027 could be a defining election for the constituency.
Will Baringo voters finally reward Tiaty with its first county-wide elective seat, or will history repeat itself once again?
The debate is open. What's your take?
