CHRONICLE #4: “He Was Just Charging His Phone”
Kanduyi, Bungoma – May 18, 2025
It was around 7:42 PM when 19-year-old Brian Simiyu stepped out of his house to charge his phone at a nearby shop.
He never returned.
Two police officers on patrol accused him of “loitering with intent.”
No weapon. No crime. Just a phone in his hand.
Witnesses say they saw him being slapped, pushed into the police pickup, and driven away like a criminal.
His mother rushed to the station. The officers on duty shrugged and said,
> “We haven’t seen him. Maybe he ran.”
He was found two days later — bruised, terrified, and silent.
QUOTE:
> “I was kicked, slapped, and told to say I’m a thief. I cried. They laughed.” — Brian Simiyu
BBC NOTE:
This is not law enforcement.
This is youth harassment in uniform.
And we will not keep quiet.
