For the past five years, we have been telling powerful stories through films and documentaries—stories of resilience, hope, and success from the people we live with, and from those who have come to our community from far away. But along the way, we realised something important was missing. We were telling stories about people, yet we had not fully looked at the environment they live in ,or how waste is managed around them. When we began to ask these questions, we discovered a serious challenge: our community is struggling with solid waste management. Waste is everywhere, polluting our surroundings and putting our health and dignity at risk.
This inspired us to start the Solid Waste Management Initiative.
This project is about the well-being of our community. It aims to stop pollution and create a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for everyone. At the same time, it creates livelihood opportunities for youth and women who are idle and vulnerable, by engaging them in waste collection, plastic sorting, and recycling activities.
This initiative is not just about waste it is about dignity, opportunity, and protecting the future of our community.
