Drama in Sigowet, Kericho as Suspected Thief Gets Stuck in Chimney While Trying to Escape

A dramatic scene unfolded in Sigowet, Kericho County, after a suspected thief became trapped inside a chimney while allegedly attempting to escape from a house he had broken into.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect is said to have gained entry into the home during the morning hours. However, when villagers raised the alarm, he reportedly panicked, climbed onto the roof, and tried to flee through the chimney.

His escape attempt took an unexpected turn when he became wedged halfway inside the chimney, unable to move either up or down. His cries for help attracted residents, who quickly gathered at the scene as news of the unusual incident spread across Sigowet.

After several hours, villagers, with the assistance of local authorities, managed to rescue him from the chimney. He was then handed over to police, bruised, covered in soot, and visibly shaken.

The bizarre incident has since become the talk of Kericho, with many residents describing it as a morning they are unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Police in Murang'a County are searching for 16-year-old Yvonne Wanjiru, a Grade 10 student at St. Charles Lwanga High School, who went missing shortly after reportedly being expelled from school.

Yvonne had returned from the midterm break on June 30 and was allegedly sent home the following morning over claims that she wore a miniskirt and had dyed her hair.
The school is said to have informed her mother of the expulsion, but Yvonne has not been seen since.

Her disappearance has raised concern among family members and the public, with police appealing to anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.
