Six individuals have lost their lives, while several others remain trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed mining pits following a significant cave-in that occurred around 3 a.m. last night whole other casualties are receiving treatment at the nearby health facilities. This incident highlights the urgent need for addressing the issue of illegal mining, which remains a persistent challenge in various regions.

This matter is serious and ongoing ,we believe the West Pokot Governor and County Commissioner are in a position to know .

We call for urgent investigation and intervention before more damage is done.
