๐Ÿ›๏ธ Kenya's built environment sector is at a crossroads.

The Architects Bill, 2026 โ€” sponsored by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka โ€” proposes the most significant reforms to architectural practice in years.

Stricter licensing. A new statutory Institute. Enforceable discipline.

But the debate is fierce: regulatory overlap, professional scope, fee regulation and the place of technicians and licentiates in the new order are all live questions.

Amid the divisions, one point unites every voice in the room โ€” public safety must come first.

Kenya's construction sector is at an inflection point. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

The National Construction Authority has launched two defining documents โ€” the Strategic Plan 2025/26โ€“2027/28 and the Construction Industry Outlook 2024 โ€” setting the regulatory and growth agenda for the next three years.

Sector growth has slowed from 6.7% in 2021 to a projected contraction in 2024. Yet 236,000 formal jobs, rising steel output, and sharper enforcement signal a sector maturing under pressure.

The blueprint is on the table. Now comes ex*****on. Full story on our LinkedIn page:

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Nairobi's property market is splitting in two.

Suburban houses are thriving โ€” Lavington, Spring Valley and Karen leading price growth, with rents crossing Ksh 200,000 for the first time ever.

Satellite towns are a different story. Tough economic conditions, stalled land approvals and a squeezed middle class are cooling what was once the market's hottest segment.

HassConsult's Q1 2026 indices are out โ€” and the data is telling. Full breakdown on our LinkedIn page.

๐ŸŽจ The walls remember him.

Patrick Mukabi painted Nairobi the way it actually feels โ€” warm, grounded and deeply human.

For years his work lived quietly inside Java House spaces across Kenya, turning commercial interiors into cultural experiences that guests felt without always knowing why.

That is the rarest kind of talent: the kind that shapes a space from the inside out.

Beyond the canvas, he mentored young artists and invested in the next generation of Kenyan creatives โ€” ensuring his vision outlives him.

To his family and the entire creative community โ€” Construction Today stands with you.

Rest well, Patrick Mukabi. Your art lives on in the walls. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Kenya's premium housing market is moving and Mi vida Homes just made its boldest statement yet. ๐Ÿก

156 Elara is a KES 5.6 billion luxury townhouse development inside Tatu City, Kiambu County. 156 units. Five acres. Two formats: three-bedroom duplexes from KES 25.6M and four-bedroom triplexes up to KES 44.5M.

At the centre sits Club Elara โ€” a wellness hub with a heated pool, gym, and lush green spaces.

All of it 300 metres from the world's only urban wildlife sanctuary. โœจ

With 99.7% power uptime, fibre, and world-class schools on the doorstep, Tatu City isn't just a location. It's an ecosystem.

โœˆ๏ธ New captain at the helm of Kenya's skies.

The KAA Board has appointed Moses Wekesa as Managing Director & CEO โ€” an engineer with deep infrastructure muscle and international project experience across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific.

His mandate? Lead the modernisation and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and position Kenya as East Africa's premier aviation and logistics hub.

The runway is ready. ๐Ÿ›ซ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ New leadership at the helm.

Bamburi Cement Plc has appointed Geoffrey Ndugwa as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026 โ€” a homecoming of sorts for an executive who knows the business from the inside.

Ndugwa previously served as Commercial Director and General Manager of Bamburi Special Products, giving him deep familiarity with the brand, its operations, and its market. He also brings experience from the financial services sector โ€” a combination the company says will anchor its push for operational efficiency and market growth.

The appointment comes at a defining moment for Kenya's cement industry, with manufacturers under pressure from rising input costs and an increasingly competitive landscape. Strong, experienced leadership matters now more than ever.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ From the drawing board to the floor of Parliament.

Hon. Arch. David Njuguna Kiaraho โ€” Principal Architect, Archgrid Systems. Three-term MP, Ol Kalou Constituency. Member, Transport & Infrastructure Committee.

He carried the built environment into the heart of Kenya's legislature. Not many can say that.

Gone on 29th March 2026, aged 62. The industry mourns one of its own.

Rest in peace, Architect. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Ksh 2 billion. Groundbroken.
university has officially launched the Kevin O'Byrne STEM Complex โ€” a world-class facility housing AI labs, engineering hubs, maker spaces and incubation platforms designed to close Africa's STEM skills gap.

For the construction and built environment sector, this isn't just an education story. It's a workforce story.

The engineers and innovators Kenya needs are built in rooms like these.
