🏟️ BREAKING NEWS: Mega Sports Complex to Transform Kakuswi into Makueni’s Sporting Powerhouse

Sports lovers from Mbooni Sub-county have every reason to celebrate! A modern 3,000-seater sports complex is set to rise at Kakuswi Playground, promising to turn the area into a vibrant hub of sporting excellence.
The ambitious project is a partnership between the County Government of Makueni and the Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Charitable Trust. Once completed, the facility will include a standard football pitch, volleyball and basketball courts, and a six-lane running track—a first of its kind in the region.
On Monday, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. hosted the Trust’s delegation led by CEO Rahul Parekh at the County offices, where they reviewed the project’s designs and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide construction and long-term maintenance.
Under the agreement, the Trust will fund KSh 500,000 annually for maintenance during the first three years and KSh 300,000 thereafter. Water for the complex and the surrounding community will be supplied by an existing borehole producing 60,000 litres per hour.
Governor Mutula, flanked by Sports CEC Eng. Sebastian Kyoni, described the partnership as “a major milestone in the advancement of sports infrastructure in Makueni.”
With the groundbreaking expected soon, Mbooni is on track to become the new home of athletic talent and community pride in the Kamba Nation.
