Constipation After Introducing Complementary Feeding

It’s common for babies to experience constipation when starting solid foods around 6 months. Their digestive systems are still adjusting to new textures and food types.

Why it happens:
- Low fiber in the new diet
- Inadequate fluid intake
- Sudden change from breastmilk/formula to solids
- Certain foods like bananas, rice, or potatoes can slow digestion

What you can do:
✅ Offer water between meals (small sips)
✅ Include fiber-rich foods like pawpaw, avocado, pureed prunes, or oats
✅ Avoid binding foods like unripe bananas or excess rice
✅ Continue breastfeeding or formula feeding alongside solids
