This year’s edition of the prestigious Chepsaita Cross Country is scheduled for December 6, under the theme “Running for Education.”The annual event is expected to attract more than 10,000 athletes, reaffirming its place as one of Kenya’s top community-driven races.

Speaking during a press briefing in Turbo Constituency, race patron Farouk Kibet said the event continues to play a crucial role in supporting education for vulnerable children.

He revealed that the initiative is currently sponsoring over 22 school-going children who were at risk of dropping out due to lack of school fees.

Kibet noted that many needy learners have benefited from the race over the years and announced that this year, two outstanding winners will be rewarded with a trip to Florida.

He also issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in malpractice or activities that may compromise the integrity of the race, saying their days are numbered.

Kenya’s digital marketplace sector is experiencing rapid transformation, with platforms such as Jumia, Kilimall and Twiga Foods redefining how buyers and sellers transact. Yet as these platforms expand, a critical gap threatens to slow their momentum the absence of embedded finance.

Embedded finance, which integrates financial services directly into non-financial platforms, is emerging as the next frontier for digital marketplaces. Instead of simply hosting listings, platforms can evolve into full-service ecosystems offering payments, credit, insurance and investment products. This shift is particularly timely for Kenya, where high smartphone usage and widespread mobile money adoption have created a ready market for integrated financial tools.

Despite mobile money’s success, many consumers and SMEs remain underserved by traditional finance.

KITUI, Kenya – A transformative 192-kilometre highway that lay dormant for over three years has roared back to life, thanks to the government’s innovative road levy securitisation programme that cleared crippling pending bills and put contractors back to work.

Construction on the Kibwezi–Mutomo–Kitui–Kabati–Migwani Road resumed on September 1, 2025, after the National Treasury released Sh1.2 billion to the contractor, slashing outstanding debt from nearly Sh1.7 billion to just Sh519 million.

Resident Engineer Dorcas Sinde confirmed the breakthrough: “The contractor could not continue due to heavy pending bills. This payment has been very important for the progress of the project.”

The remaining 23-kilometre Migwani–Mbondoni stretch, suspended since 2021, is now the focus of intense activity. Once complete, the road will provide a shorter, faster corridor for heavy trucks travelling from Mombasa port to northern and eastern Kenya, bypassing the longer Mwingi–Garissa route.

Nairobi, Kenya – November 18, 2025: TVS Motor Company, one of the world’s leading two- and three-wheeler manufacturers, has opened a state-of-the-art flagship showroom on Lusaka Road, Nairobi, in partnership with long-time distributor Car & General. The new facility is designed as a premium experience and sales centre, signalling TVS’s bold push into Kenya’s fast-growing premium motorcycle segment.

The opening comes just one day after the high-profile Kenyan launch of the much-anticipated TVS Apache RTR 180 – a performance-focused motorcycle that carries 43 years of TVS racing DNA and is positioned as the brand’s entry into the personal/premium riding category in East Africa.

Nairobi, Kenya – 20 November 2025 -In a turning point for the troubled Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Program (NRRP), residents of Kangemi, Dagoretti, and surrounding areas have reached a historic agreement with the Nairobi Rivers Commission and county officials to move forward together — but only on terms that protect homeowners and ensure genuine community involvement.

After months of tension over feared demolitions along riverbanks, Thursday’s packed consultative meeting at the CHAK Conference Centre ended with handshakes, applause, and a clear joint commitment: no heavy-handed evictions, no blanket riparian markings without landowner input, and a promise of smaller, ward-level town halls to follow.

“We came fearing the worst, but we leave as partners,” said one Kangemi landowner who asked not to be named. “For the first time, they listened.”

The breakthrough was brokered by Nairobi Minority Leader and Waithaka MCA Hon.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Korir and his counter part of Nandi Eulita Mitei urged students to be innovative and be job creators and not seekers.

"It's time students use the knowledge gotten in class to create employment opportunities instead of seeking for white collar jobs which are scarce,"she said.

Speaking during the graduation Ceremony held at the institution the Govenour congratulated the graduands and urged them to use the knowledge gained impacted on them to change the society.

Over 2800 students graduated with various disciplines adding that bring a graduate is not the end of the world.

Nairobi, Kenya, November 24, 2025-Grace Akinyi remembers the 5 a.m. queue where hundreds of women stood clutching jerry cans, waiting for water vendors who charged 10 shillings for 20 litres of water that might have come from the polluted Nairobi River, water that had already sent two of her children to the hospital with typhoid.

"We called it liquid gold, sometimes I spent 100 shillings a day on water, that's more than I spent on food," says the 34-year-old mother of four.

Today, Akinyi walks 50 metres from her home to a SHOFCO water ATM, where she pays just 50 cents for 20 litres of clean, tested water piped directly from Nairobi's municipal system. “My children haven't been sick in two years. I save money, I have time to work, water gives me back my life," says Akinyi

This is the quiet revolution that Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) has engineered across ten informal settlements in Kenya.

Nairobi, Kenya – 20 November 2025– East Africa’s premier family-friendly music festival, Blankets & Wine, has unveiled its most ambitious line-up yet for the Kenyan Summer 2025 edition featuring Scorpion Kings, Donae’o, Marioo and MiCas on Sunday, 21 December 2025 at Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Under the rallying cry “COME WE DANCE!”,the festival is set to deliver an explosive celebration of African rhythm and joy just days before Christmas, perfectly timed for the festive season.

In a milestone for cultural exchange, the event deepens its partnership with the British Council’s UK/Kenya Season 2025. After successfully taking Blankets & Wine to the UK for the first time ever in Bradford earlier this year, the collaboration now brings British Funky House legend Donae’O – the voice behind global anthems “Party Hard” and “I’m Fly” – to Nairobi as co-headliner, marking a historic two-way artistic bridge between Kenya and the UK.

As Kenya marks Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week (Nov 18–24, 2025), Kenchic PLC has intensified its public outreach on responsible antibiotic use, warning that poor farming practices and non-adherence to basic poultry management standards are driving preventable disease outbreaks and placing consumers at risk.

During a field tour of its Kakuzi North Broiler farm on Wednesday, the farm's manager Duncan Kamiti detailed the company’s stringent biosecurity protocols, farm-to-fork traceability systems, and proactive approach to disease prevention, measures they say are increasingly critical as AMR becomes a growing global threat.

He further noted that AMR occurs when bacteria evolve to resist medicines that once worked effectively.

NAIROBI, KENYA – Forget the sidelines of the football pitch; the new essential arena for youth development is the swimming pool. A growing movement among Kenyan educational institutions is shifting the perception of swimming from a recreational luxury to a core, life-saving skill and a foundation for lifelong wellness. This pivotal change is equipping young learners not only with physical fitness but also with the discipline and self-assurance needed to navigate life's challenges.

The urgency of this commitment is underscored by grim global statistics: the World Health Organization (WHO)'s Global Status Report on Drowning Prevention (2024) confirms that drowning remains one of the leading causes of child deaths worldwide. Schools that actively integrate aquatic programmes are directly confronting this risk, giving children a practical, empowering tool for water safety.
