MINI TBT (TRIBUTE): ‘TSHAZI ON THE BEAT’
In the mid to late 2000s, there was a hip hop wave that rocked the Kenyan music industry. Ring leaders were Abbas Kubaff, Chiwawa, CLD, among many others.
Songs like ‘Chapaa’ and ‘Chapaa Remix’, ‘2050’, and others, ruled the airwaves and everyone nodded their heads to the beats and the vibes.
One of the main producers behind those
hits was among others, producer Tshazi FX of Backstage Entertainment.
After studying abroad in the UK and Australia, Tshazi, real name Tshazibane Wellington Okoth, brought this fresh vibe and managed to create a wave that enjoyed a major fanbase in Kenya and East Africa.
Tshazi later on left active participation in the music, even though he pulled strings on the sides, to concentrate on business.
Last week, Tshazi breathed his last after a short illness. He will be buried this week.
Truly one of Kenya’s legendary producers, who avoided beef, even when his artists openly fought each other in the industry.
Rest in peace Legend.
