MIGORI: President William Ruto has awarded Kamagambo University a Letter of Interim Authority at State House Lodge, Kisumu County, paving the way for the institution to expand access to higher education and create opportunities for young people in Migori County and across Kenya.

The university will play a key role in training teachers, entrepreneurs and other professionals equipped with the skills needed to drive Kenya’s transformation and development.

President Ruto urged the university management and trustees to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, sound governance, prudent stewardship and quality as the institution works towards attaining a full Charter.

The Government is also reforming student placement and financing through the Tertiary Education, Placement and Funding Bill, 2026, aimed at ensuring every qualified Kenyan has an opportunity to pursue higher education regardless of their background.

KISUMU: President William Ruto has inspected the ongoing works on the Chemelil–Muhoroni Junction Road, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity across the region.

The KSh5.7 billion project is part of the wider KSh15.7 billion Kisumu–Chemelil–Muhoroni–Kipsitet road upgrade, which is being implemented in three phases.

Once completed, the road will strengthen connectivity between Kisumu and Kericho counties, improve access to markets, ease transportation and support trade and agricultural activities across the region.

KISUMU: President William Ruto has commissioned the KSh8.4 billion Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project in Kisumu City.

The major project will connect 53,000 additional households to reliable water supply and 23,000 households to the sewerage system, more than doubling sewerage coverage across the city.

The project will also reduce water losses by 27 per cent, connect more than 7,000 affordable housing units to reliable water and sewerage services, and provide major health facilities with 24-hour water and sanitation services.

A major boost to water access, sanitation, public health and living standards for thousands of Kisumu residents.
