KISUMU: Police in Kisumu have busted a suspected motor vehicle theft syndicate in a joint operation by Migosi and Kassagam Police Stations.

Eleven stolen vehicles, including Toyota Axios and Fielders, were recovered at Khayeko Junction and Aliwa Village.

Two suspects — Michael Eric Mwanga (32) and Peter Andei (37) — were arrested, while the main suspect, Evans Otieno Meda, is still at large.

Exhibits are detained at Migosi Police Station as investigations continue.

The photos shows the famous kipasi market and lambwe Valley at large. People staying here deserves a hardship allowance. The only school i came across called Nyamaji primary school is serving pupils staying in a radius of over 20km. Life here is unbearable with women left to walk for over 15km to search for water. Donkeys seem to be the most precious animals here and every homestead has one or two. Though hostile but livestock farming is still lucrative here especially goat farming. There are still enough spaces and shrubs to support the venture.

This type of fishing is called "Ywayo nyapus." Nyapus are basically fingerlings, the young ones of mud fish and another local species called Nyawino. Nyapus is then sold to fishermen who use them as bait to catch bigger fish. The price of Nyapus fluctuates depending on different factors, among them demand and dollar exchange ranges. One Nyapus is sold between Ksh 1 to Ksh 3, so you have to catch as many as possible. Most of these women would start the work as early as 6:00 AM to around 2:00 PM or even late when the lake behaves well Via Adede Owalla
