A man who recently came into the public spotlight for helping expose an illegal dental clinic in Kawangware has died after suffering life-threatening complications from a failed tooth extraction.

Amos Isoka passed away on Wednesday night while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. Doctors confirmed that he developed severe swelling in his neck, tongue, and chest, which led to critical breathing difficulties.

Isoka had been admitted to the hospital’s critical care unit, where medical teams battled to save his life for over two weeks following the unlicensed dental procedure. Despite undergoing two surgical operations, his condition continued to deteriorate, ultimately resulting in his death.

Multiple cars and property have been destroyed at the Kimani Wamatangi Car Wash, which has been operating on public land belonging to Kenya Railways.

While the land ownership issue and alleged disregard of court orders raise serious legal concerns, the manner in which this action was carried out is unacceptable and inhumane.

Enforcement of the law must respect human dignity, due process, and proportionality. Destroying private property and livelihoods without humane engagement, clear notice, and lawful procedure only escalates tension and suffering.

Justice must be firm but it must also be humane.
