The Bible, The Mystery Of Babylon And The W***e Of Babylon
Revelation 17:1-2 tells us, โThen one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, โCome, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.โโ
Revelation 17:5 goes on to say, โAnd on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.โ Who is this โw***e of Babylonโ and what is โmystery Babylonโ?
Revelation 17:3 gives this description: โThen the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.โ
The beast mentioned in this verse is the same beast as in Revelation chapter 13:1, โAnd I saw a beast coming out of the sea. Many commentators link this passage with the Roman Catholic Church because in ancient times, the city of Rome was known as โthe city on seven hillsโ because there are seven prominent hills that surround the city. However, verse 10 goes on to explain that the seven hills represent 7 kings or kingdoms, five of which have fallen, one that is and one that is to come.
Therefore, the "whor
