We have reached the Final day of our intensive training for Data Protection Officers (DPOs) of filmmakers drawn from local film associations, including the association for deaf filmmakers and intellectual property lawyers.
The training sessions focused on the responsibilities of data handlers, data protection safeguards such as impact assessments, mitigation measures, data localization, and fundamentals of cross-border data transfers.
Our CEO Mr. Timothy Owase joined the trainees and commended fellow partners for their exceptional collaboration across the three training cohorts. Mr. Owase urged creatives across the entire value chain and government officials, to champion data protection by upholding the highest standards when handling personal information.
“Protect yourselves and protect the data you manage,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of responsible data practices and ethical operations in the creative industry. He further encouraged the trainees to foster a culture of compliance, noting that the long-term benefits are shared across the entire sector.
Today’s training was the final of two others that trained film producers, Digital media bloggers and influencers in the just ended month of June. At the Kenya Film Commission, we believe that great storytelling must go hand in hand with best practices, ethical responsibility, and data integrity.

Each and Every day, the Trans Nzoia Art and Film industry is growing bigger , better, more mature and More Promising.Great salute to Majid Emmason and Transwood Film Studios for staging the popular "Stella Wangu" play for the second time consecutively.It was also a nice feeling seeing our leaders Allan Chesang , Lucky Ajega and all other Arts and film enthusiasts from Kitale and Beyond leaving their daily activities to be part of this memorable event.Long Live Trans Nzoia.
