Who is Hon. Dr. Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan....
Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan was born and raised in Turkana County in a humble pastoralist family background. Growing up in an arid region with limited access to basic needs such as water, education, and healthcare, he experienced firsthand the challenges faced by many communities in northern Kenya. Despite these hardships, he remained focused on education and personal growth.
Hon. Jeremiah began his early education at Namoruputh Primary School before proceeding to Lodwar High School for his secondary education. His determination to succeed pushed him to continue learning even after completing his secondary studies. He later enrolled at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where he obtained a certificate in governance. He further pursued a diploma and later a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling at Kenya Methodist University, demonstrating his commitment to academic and leadership development.
In 1995, Hon. Jeremiah started his professional journey as a clerical officer at the National Registration Bureau. Through hard work and dedication, he later served as a public officer at the Turkana County Council. These early roles gave him valuable experience in public administration and strengthened his desire to serve the community.
His leadership journey began at the grassroots level when he was elected as a councilor in Turkana County, serving between 2007 and 2012. During this period, he actively represented his community and addressed local challenges. With the introduction of devolution in Kenya, he was elected as a Member of County Assembly (MCA) from 2013 to 2017, where he contributed to policy-making and development planning within the county.
In 2017, Hon. Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan was elected as the Member of Parliament for Loima Constituency, serving at the Parliament of Kenya until 2022. During his tenure, he focused on improving infrastructure, supporting education through bursaries, and uplifting the living standards of his constituents.
In the 2022 Kenyan general election, he successfully contested for the position of Governor of Turkana County and emerged victorious. As Governor, he now leads the county government, overseeing development projects and implementing policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
Under his leadership, the county has prioritized key sectors such as water access, healthcare, education, food security, and economic empowerment. He has also emphasized support for pastoralist communities, youth empowerment, and partnerships with development organizations to boost growth in Turkana.
Hon. Dr. Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan’s journey from a humble background to the highest office in the county is a clear reflection of resilience, determination, and commitment to public service. His leadership continues to inspire many, as he works towards transforming Turkana County and improving the lives of its people.
