IS INDUCTION MORE PAINFUL THAN NATURAL LABOUR?

A lot of mothers say “Induction is more painful than natural labour.”
Let’s break it down,

First, for those who don’t know — Induction of labour is when labour is started artificially, usually when pregnancy has reached term but labour refuses to start on its own.

Now, here’s the difference:

✅ Natural Labour:

Your body produces its own oxytocin (the hormone that makes the womb contract).

As contractions come, the brain releases endorphins — natural painkillers that help you cope.

Labour usually starts gently — contractions are short, spaced out, and build up gradually.

✅ Induced Labour:

Artificial oxytocin (drip medicine) is given to make the womb contract.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t trigger your brain to release those natural painkillers.

Pain starts immediately and feels more intense because your body hasn’t had time to adjust.

That’s why many mothers feel induced labour is “🔥🔥🔥” compared to natural labour.

But remember 👉🏾 Induction is sometimes necessary when the pregnancy must be ended for the safety of the mother or baby.
⚠️ It doesn’t always succeed — if it fails, you may end up needing a cesarean section.
⚠️ If you had a cesarean before, some hospitals may not induce you at all.

So yes, induction is often more painful, but it can be life-saving.
And no, having an induction once doesn’t mean you’ll be induced again in your next pregnancy.

Meanwhile your baby’s reaction after induction 😒👇🏾
“Nurse, abeg no try this nonsense again.” 😂

Mums, have you ever experienced induction of labour? Was it really more painful for you than natural labour? Share your experience below.

Someone posted: 'Brufen husimamisha period, nmechoka kunyesha…'

👉🏽 Let’s talk facts.
Brufen (Ibuprofen) does not stop your periods completely, but it can make the flow lighter and reduce cramps. Doctors sometimes prescribe it for women who bleed heavily during periods.

⚠️ But be careful—taking Brufen without guidance can cause stomach problems, ulcers, or kidney issues.

✅ If your periods are too heavy, prolonged, or painful, don’t just depend on painkillers. See a health worker for proper check-up—sometimes it could be fibroids, hormonal imbalance, or other medical issues.

Men, let’s talk…

When we hear infection, most people think of women. Truth is 👉 men get infections too.

UTIs. STIs. Prostatitis. Even yeast infections (yes, really).
But here’s the problem: silence.
Too many men keep quiet out of ego or shame—while the infection gets worse.

If you notice pain when peeing, unusual discharge, itching, or discomfort, don’t ignore it. Health doesn’t care about gender.

Strong men speak up. Strong men get treated. Strong men stay healthy.

❤️ Rooting for you always,

🚨 PREGNANT MOTHERS, BEWARE OF ECLAMPSIA 🚨

"Nurse, what happened to me?"

Those were the first words from a young mother after she regained consciousness in the hospital.
She had blacked out while walking to the shop — that’s all she remembered.

What happened between that moment and waking up in the hospital had to be explained to her.
She had suffered a seizure — a result of eclampsia.

✅ Her blood pressure and urine protein had been normal throughout her pregnancy.
✅ She only had mild headaches in the morning — which she ignored, thinking it was just part of being pregnant.

But one morning, everything changed: ➡️ A fall.
➡️ Violent seizures (fits like an epileptic patient).
➡️ Rushed to hospital.
➡️ Diagnosed with eclampsia.

💥 Eclampsia is a life-threatening complication of pre-eclampsia — a condition that can be silent, especially when it's not well monitored.

🚩 Warning Signs of Impending Eclampsia:

Persistent severe headaches

Flashes of light or blurred vision

High blood pressure (≥ 140/90 mmHg)

Epigastric pain (upper abdominal pain)

Nausea or vomiting linked to high BP

Poor appetite and general body weakness

🧠 Don't ignore the signs. Report early.
Regular antenatal visits can help detect pre-eclampsia before it becomes deadly.

👶 A healthy mother = a healthy baby.
Take care of yourself, mama ❤️

Trying to Get Pregnant? Already Expecting? This is for You!

If you're planning to conceive, start taking your folic acid supplements now—don't wait.
And if you’re already pregnant, never skip your daily dose of folic acid.

💊 Why is folic acid so important?
It helps prevent serious birth defects like spina bifida and rachischisis, where the baby’s spine doesn’t close properly during development. In such cases:

The spinal cord may be exposed.

The baby may be born without a brain.

They often have no bladder control and suffer from severe infections.

Sadly, most pregnancies with this condition end in miscarriage or stillbirth, and those who survive birth usually pass away within hours or days.

🧠 The good news? This condition can be detected early through ultrasound.
👉 That's why you should never skip your pregnancy scans.

So, let me ask you: Are you taking your folic acid daily?
If not, please start today. Your baby’s life could depend on it.

🔍 Swipe to see an image showing the condition where the baby's spine is left open (rachischisis).

Newborn Feeding: What Every Parent Must Know!
By Muuguzi Kokoi 💉

Did you know? A newborn should be fed within 30 minutes to 1 hour after birth!
Delaying the first feed may lead to hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) — a serious condition that can cause irreversible damage to the developing brain. 😔

Please, insist that your baby is fed at the hospital shortly after delivery — don’t wait to hear sad stories.

In the first few weeks of life, a newborn should feed every 2 to 3 hours.
⚠️ If your baby is oversleeping, wake them up and feed.
Don’t let anyone tell you, “this baby is gentle” — a newborn should NOT be too gentle to sleep through meal times!

✅ Planning for exclusive breastfeeding? That’s great — but sometimes milk delays.
And that’s okay. Your baby’s health comes first.
Formula can be used temporarily until your milk comes in and breastfeeding is established — then you can go full exclusive.

💡 A well-fed baby is a healthy baby.

👶 Can You Get Pregnant While Already Pregnant? True Story! 🤰

A young couple in a quiet village had just found out they were expecting their first baby. Excited and overjoyed, they started preparing for their bundle of joy. But a few weeks into the pregnancy, something strange happened…

The mother’s belly started growing unusually fast. The doctors thought maybe it was twins—until the ultrasound revealed something unexpected…

📌 One baby was 5 weeks old…
📌 The other was only 3 weeks old!

Yes, she had gotten pregnant while already pregnant! 😲

This rare event is called superfetation—when a second egg is released, gets fertilized, and implants in the womb after a pregnancy has already begun.

🔍 Normally, this doesn’t happen because pregnancy hormones:

Stop ovulation,

Create a mucus plug in the cervix,

And make the uterus unfriendly to new embryos.

But in extremely rare cases—less than a handful worldwide—all these natural barriers fail.

Both babies grew well and were born healthy, just a few weeks apart in age but delivered on the same day.

👉🏽 So yes, it is possible (but very rare) to get pregnant while already pregnant.

💡 Pregnancy is full of wonders—and this is one of the rarest!

"NURSE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME"

These were the words of a patient .
She opened her eyes and she was in the hospital

In between that time and the time she opened her eyes had to be communicated to her.
She had no idea.

She experienced headaches in the morning which she thought was part of the pregnancy

She didn't pay so much attention to it

What happened next was a fall which came with fits like that of an epileptic patient

At the hospital , BP and urine protein were all present and high

She suffered eclampsia. Eclampsia sets in when you have pre eclampsia and it's poorly controlled or not monitored

If diagnosed of pre eclampsia pay attention to the impending signs of eclampsia and report immediately

Severe and persistent Headaches

Epigastric pain

High BP more than 140/90 mmhg
