This is not a story from a book or a movie… this is our reality, our everyday life here in Turkana.
It doesn’t matter where you are not in Turkana East, not in Turkana South, not in Loima, not in Turkana North death follows us everywhere. 😭😭
Every corner of this land carries a cry, a scream, a mother’s wail, a child’s silence. Every corner carries a fresh grave.
We have lost count of the funerals. We have lost count of the tears. Hata machozi zimekauka, but the blood still flows 💔
Every morning we wake up wondering, “Who will it be today?”
A mother wakes to find her child gone forever. A husband buries the woman who stood by his side. A village gathers under the shade of one tree, not for a celebration, but to lower yet another loved one into the earth.
We used to have joy in our villages laughter of children, songs of elders, dances of youth.
Now, we only hear mourning songs, gunshots in the distance, and whispers of fear at night.
And in the middle of this pain, our own son, Ikush Danfoner , has done something powerful he has turned our cries into a song.
But this is not just music. It is a mirror of our suffering. It is the heartbeat of our grief. It is the voice of the mother who can’t speak because her throat is full of tears.
😭 This song is raw pain the kind you feel deep in your chest.
Danfona, we see you. We thank you. We appreciate you for using your voice when many are silent. You have shown the world that Turkana is not just a place on the map – it is a land bleeding, a people crying for peace.
