The Principal Secretary for the State Department of National Government Coordination, Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim, has officially launched the NYOTA Youth Empowerment Project in Mandera.

The initiative aims to uplift young people through business grants, training and mentorship, empowering them to build sustainable livelihoods.

In Mandera County, over 2,100 youth from 30 wards are set to benefit from this transformative programme.

NYOTA Project Launched in Mandera County

Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim, PS for the State Department of National Government Coordination, today officially launched National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project at the Governor’s Hall in Mandera town.

The initiative seeks to transform opportunities for vulnerable and marginalized youth across Kenya by creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurship and promoting a savings culture.

Under the programme, 100,000 young people nationwide will benefit — with 70 youths in each of the 1,450 wards receiving Sh50,000 in start-up capital, alongside training and mentorship to help them build sustainable livelihoods.

In Mandera County, a total of 2,100 young people from 30 wards will directly benefit from the initiative.

Present were county and national government officials, security teams, development partners, community and religious leaders and youth representatives.

The PS urged stakeholders to mobilize and sensitize youth at the grassroots to take advantage of the project.
