CHIEF OFFICER STEALS COUNTY TRACTOR
By Angaza News Reporter
A Chief Officer in Busia County is being accused of stealing a County tractor and selling it.
According to a source, the New Holland tractor (pictured below) belonging to the Busia County Government, disappeared for some time and resurfaced mysteriously.
It is said that the tractor which had been parked at the home of one of the MCAs after it broke down, disappeared while being towed back to the County headquarters.
The source alleges that a recovery track which had been sent to tow it was diverted to Migori by a Chief Officer who had already gotten a buyer who bought it at Ksh850,000.
The matter had been thrown under the carpet until when all Chief Officers including the suspect were reinstated by Governor Paul Otuoma after their term in office elapsed.
"This matter was meant to die like that but when some members of staff who knew what had happened heard that the suspect also had been reinstated, is when questions were raised ", said the source.
The source further alleges that the tractor was later returned secretly after a CEC who is very close to Otuoma decided to pay the buyer Ksh1 million for him to release the tractor so as to save the Chief Officer from losing his job.
Even as the story continues making rounds, it's not yet clear whether the tractor that was returned is the same tractor that disappeared.
