The Department of internal audit successfully conducted an induction program for newly appointed Internal Auditors, bringing together our audit team and members of the Audit Committee to strengthen understanding of audit governance, accountability, and professional standards.

The session was graced by key county leadership including:

Hon. Silvana Kaparo – CECM, Finance & Economic Planning
Audit Committee Members

The induction emphasized ethical conduct, professional excellence, teamwork, and the critical role of internal audit in promoting transparency and effective service delivery within Samburu County Government.

Today, Samburu Governor H.E. Lati Lelelit visited Suyan village following a tragic bandit attack few days ago that left one herder dead and dozens of goats and sheep stolen. During the visit, the governor consoled the bereaved family and reaffirmed his bold commitment to restoring peace in the County. He strongly appealed to the national government to intensify efforts in ending the senseless killings of innocent herders. Governor Lelelit emphasized the need for lasting security solutions.
The Governor was accompanied by former Women Representative Maison Leshoomo, Alois Lentoimaga, Area MCA Jeremiah Leitoro, other MCAs including Leleruk, Lealmusia, Asha Ahmed, Jane Nakiny, and Janet Lenamalda, Chief Officer Leleina, and other senior county staff.

Governor H.E. Lati Lelelit today joined mourners in Kitobor for the burial ceremony of Isaack Lenaruti, who tragically lost his life in a road accident along the Kisima–Maralal road. During the service, the governor delivered a heartfelt message of condolence and hope to the grieving family, while also issuing a strong appeal for improved road safety to prevent such devastating losses in the future.

This afternoon, His Excellency Lati Lelelit visited the Suyan injured herders Maralal Referral Hospital, offering heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery. He was accompanied on a tour of the facility by County Executive Committee Member for Health, Dr. Nasir Lekudere, along with Chief Officers Dr. Ndeki and Mr. Lenguris.

During the visit, the governor inspected various departments, including the pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical stores, operating theaters, blood bank unit, and the oxygen plant, to ensure everything was functioning properly and adequately stocked.

In a warm and fatherly gesture, the governor also held a meeting with the hospital’s health workers, expressing his appreciation for their dedication and reaffirming his commitment to supporting the healthcare sector.

MEDS delivered essential pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical supplies to health facilities in the frontiers areas of Samburu East and Samburu North. This follows last week's delivery of similar items by the MEDS team to the county referral hospital.
