Municipal Casual Workers Allegedly Intimidated Over Political Support.

Some workers serving under the Maralal Municipality, including cleaners and town askaris, particularly those on casual terms, are reportedly supporting Hon. Naisula Lesuuda’s bid for a third term as Samburu West MP.

However, claims reaching Samburu Digital News. allege that some workers are being intimidated by a CEC who is also reportedly eyeing a political seat. It is alleged that workers who openly express their political preferences risk being issued with dismissal letters.

There is freedom of choice, and everyone has a right to support the political leader of their choice without intimidation or fear of losing their job.

Samburu people know that Hon. Hon Naisula Lesuuda has been consistently following up on the demarcation and issuance of Group Ranch titles. She started this journey during the previous regime, and many Samburu residents acquired their titles through her efforts and lobbying.

Instead of the current Governor focusing on how to properly utilize the billions coming to Samburu County and delivering services to the people, he appears more focused on taking credit for or politicizing National Government Projects.

National projects can be lobbied for by Samburu’s elected leaders at the national level. What Samburu needs from the County Government is effective leadership, development, accountability and proper utilization of county resources.

Former SAWASCO Board Members Raise Concern Over Unpaid Allowances.

A former Board of Directors member of SAWASCO has raised concerns over unpaid meeting allowances, saying board members served their full term but have never received their outstanding dues.

According to the former director, the board members, who came from different parts of Samburu County, regularly attended meetings but were only paid Ksh 100,000 in December 2025.

They are now appealing to Governor Lati Lelelit, EGH and the relevant authorities to follow up on the matter and ensure the former board members are paid their outstanding allowances.

“We served the county and attended meetings as required. Unfortunately, our term ended without our allowances being settled,” the former board member said.
