Governor Njuki Threatens to Withdraw Support in 2027 if Nithi Bridge and Roads Pledge Is Not Fulfilled
Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has issued a stern warning to the national government, saying he will not back it in the 2027 elections if it fails to fulfill key infrastructural pledges made to the county.
Njuki pointed out that the redesign of the deadly Nithi Bridge and the tarmacking of several major roads in Tharaka Nithi have been delayed for too long, despite repeated promises from the government.
He dismissed claims that the government lacks funds for development, citing his recent visit to Homa Bay County where he witnessed an array of newly completed projects. According to the governor, this proves that resources are available but have not been fairly distributed.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Kiego/Mpuri Bridge in Chogoria Ward, Njuki emphasized his commitment to improving infrastructure at the county level. He revealed that the bridge is the 16th to be constructed in the ward since he took office, underscoring his focus on tangible development projects that directly benefit the people.
