Police Nab Itugururu’s ‘Herbal Vendor’ With 33 Rolls
Itugururu Market today witnessed what residents are calling a “morning marathon” after a well-known peddler attempted to outpace police officers, only to discover that his legs were no match for law enforcement.
The suspect, who was reportedly operating near the Itugururu Matatu Stage, took off like a matatu avoiding NTSA officers but was quickly cornered after a short chase.
Upon search, officers discovered 33 tightly packed rolls of cannabis,a number that left some locals wondering if the man was running a “wholesale shop” rather than a small hustle.
One amused resident joked, “We thought he was training for Olympics trials, kumbe he was just trying to protect his stock!”
The suspect is cooling his heels in police custody as his “herbal exhibit” enjoys VIP treatment at the police station’s evidence shelf.
Meanwhile, the National Police Service has praised members of the public for “turning into undercover detectives” and reminded everyone that cooperation is key in flushing out narcotics.
And one officer joked, “In Itugururu, the only rolls allowed are chapatis, not bhang.”
