Hello hacker!

Intel in conjunction with iHub is pleased to invite you to a Buildathon on June 6th at the iHub from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. "What's a Buildathon?" I hear you ask....it's a sponsored workshop where we hope to come together as hackers, programmers and friends to work on awesome collaborative projects...a time for us to learn from each other. This time, we'll be looking at using the Intel Edison to come up with awesome projects on OpenCV (Check out the attached document for a glimpse of what we'll be tackling). Projects will be carried out in pairs with each pair selecting one of the four projects.

1. Intelligent Multi-POV Surveillance System
2. Stereoscopic Vision and Actuator Control System
3. Speed Detection System
4. Facial Recognition System

What is expected of you?
1. Read up on the material we will send you prior to the day and familiarize yourself with OpenCV concepts.
2. Build up on your projects after the Buildathon and prepare for a post-event follow up two weeks after.
3. Be curious, collaborative and MOST IMPORTANTLY, be prepared to have LOTS OF FUN!:-)

Lunch, snacks and refreshments will be available on the day.

The U.S. Embassy is conducting a cultural and music workshop at the White Rhino hotel in Nyeri and will be hosted by creativeconnekt.wordpress.com at Kilele Lab 8th Friday at 4:30pm for a 30 mins to 1 hour interactive open mic session in readiness for the climax of the workshop on Saturday at the White Rhino hotel.
Students involved in music and performance arts are invited for the Friday session for a briefing and mentorship.

Only the first 40 students will be allowed inside for the session.

CISCO NETRIDERS COMPETITION!!

It is that time of the year again that Cisco is inviting Cisco Networking Academy students to participate in the Netriders Competition.

This competition brings together students from different academies within the country and the students get tested on various concepts taught. This competition also prepares the students for the certification exam which ideally should be each student’s ultimate objective by the end of the course.

This year, the competition will run from May through to July. The Registration site has gone live and students can now register for this competition. (www.academynetriders.com).
