It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of 18-year-old Chinese footballer Guo Jiaxuan. Guo tragically lost his life following a head injury sustained during a training match in Spain.
On February 6, 2025, while playing in a friendly match against RC Alcobendas in Madrid, Guo suffered a severe head injury after an accidental collision with an opposing player. He was immediately rendered unconscious and, despite prompt medical attention, was declared brain dead by local medical professionals. Subsequently, he was transported back to China for continued care but, regrettably, passed away on March 19, 2025, just a day before his 19th birthday.
Guo's football journey began at the age of 13 when he joined Beijing Guoan. His talent and dedication led him to represent China's national team at the under-17 level. In 2023, he was selected to participate in Bayern Munich's World Squad project, underscoring his potential and ambition in the sport.
The football community has been deeply affected by this tragic loss. Bayern Munich expressed their heartfelt condolences, highlighting Guo's achievements and the void his passing leaves in the sport. His last club, Beijing Guoan, also mourned his loss and committed to supporting his family during this challenging time.
Guo Jiaxuan's passion, dedication, and contributions to football will be remembered by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates as they navigate this immeasurable loss.
