An unpopular opinion:

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki may choose not to be dragged into county-level politics, especially as the push for regional balance in Tharaka Nithi gains momentum.

This could potentially put Maara in a strategic position for the governor's seat, with a deputy governor coming from either Tharaka or Chuka.

The big political question is whether having Tharaka produce both the Deputy President and the Governor could become a difficult card to sell in a county increasingly demanding balanced representation.

Perhaps Prof. Kindiki's bigger game is not controlling the governor's seat, but consolidating the larger Tharaka Nithi political family ahead of 2027.

The battle may ultimately be less about individuals and more about regional balance, alliances and political arithmetic.

2027 will be interesting. 👀

Political maturity is only for the few!!!
