UPDATE: IEBC announces that All By-Elections will be held on 27th November 2025.
The gazettement of the By-Elections has been scheduled in two batches:
1. Batch 1: Gazetted on Friday, 8th August 2025
Members of County Assemblies: Angata Nanyokie Ward in Samburu County, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward in Nandi County, Chewani Ward in Tana River County, Fafi Ward in Garissa County, Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi City County, Kisa East Ward in Kakamega County, Metkei Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Mumbuni North Ward in Machakos County, Narok Town Ward in Narok County, Purko Ward in Kajiado County, Tembelio Ward in Uasin Gishu County, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo Wards in Nyamira County, Lake Zone and Nanaam Wards in Turkana County (16).
2. Batch 2: Special Gazette on Monday, 11th August 2025
- Member of Senate - Baringo County (1).
- Members of the National Assembly for Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North and Ugunja Constituencies (6).
- Member of County Assembly for Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Bungoma County (1).
Key timelines and requirements include;
Political parties intending to participate must submit the names on or before Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Any public officer intending to vie must resign from their position within seven (7) days of the notice.
IEBC will publish the names and dates of party primaries in the gazette within seven days of receiving them.
Independent Candidates Must not have been members of any political party for at least three months prior to the election date, and must submit their names and symbols for nomination purposes by September 17, 2025.
Registration of candidates—both political party nominees and independents—will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 and Thursday, October 9, 2025 at designated IEBC offices between 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Any disputes arising from nominations must be resolved within ten (10) days of lodging, and no later than Friday, October 17, 2025.
