For the first 6 months, babies who are exclusively breastfed don't need water. Breast milk provides all the hydration they need.
Once you begin complementary feeding at around 6 months, it's time to introduce small amounts of water alongside their meals. As solid foods become part of their diet, water helps support healthy digestion and can reduce the likelihood of constipation.
Every new milestone brings new questions—and that's okay. One step at a time, you're learning what your baby needs.
