When news broke that Hon. Mumina Bonaya had been ranked among the top 10 most performing Women Representatives in Kenya, placing seventh nationally, it was less of a surprise to Isiolo residents and more of a confirmation of what they have always known, 𝗠𝗚𝗕 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Just a few months back, Garbatulla bore witness to her unmatched bond with the people. The entire town stood still as thousands turned out to welcome their beloved leader. From the emotional convoy reception filled with song and dance, to the massive empowerment drive where she distributed salon and barbershop equipment, tents, car wash machinery, startup cheques, and direct financial support to over 100 community groups, MGB showed why her leadership goes beyond politics, it transforms lives.

Her style of leadership blends grassroots connection with tangible development outcomes. What stood out in Garbatulla was not just the euphoria of her supporters, but the hope she ignited by creating real economic opportunities for youth, women, and families. The ranking she now holds at the national stage is therefore not accidental, it mirrors the lived reality of Isiolo South residents who see her impact daily.

Hon. Mumina has consistently championed unity, peace, and service-driven leadership, urging her colleagues to focus on delivery rather than divisive politics. Her ability to rally support from both the people and fellow leaders, while channeling resources directly into the community, has elevated Isiolo’s voice nationally.

Being listed among Kenya’s best-performing Women Representatives places her on a pedestal not only as Isiolo’s pride, but also as a symbol of what unity can achieve when leaders stay close to the people. For residents who witnessed Garbatulla’s streets turn into seas of jubilation, the ranking only validates what they already felt, that 𝗧𝗮𝗵 𝗔𝗯𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼 is among the finest leaders Kenya has produced.

A day after the county received medical supplies worth millions of shillings, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) led by Hon. Losu of Ngaremara Ward made an impromptu visit to the County Referral Hospital.

During the visit, the MCAs inspected the current state of the hospital facilities and assessed the newly delivered medical consignment.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Golle Abgudo commended the county leadership, saying, “Politics aside, we are impressed by the governor's efforts to revamp the health sector.”

The MCAs urged county health officials to ensure that the medical supplies are distributed equitably across all wards and reach dispensaries at the grassroots level. They also lauded the general improvement of the health sector under the leadership of Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo.

This endorsement comes in the wake of a recent press conference where the MCAs expressed their willingness to work with the new Speaker, Hon. Banticha, as they await the outcome of a court petition filed by MRQ.

Since assuming office, Governor Guyo has significantly prioritized healthcare in the county. His administration has overseen the completion of a multimillion shilling Accident and Trauma Centre, full installation and functioning of X-ray, dialysis, and ICU units, and the construction of several dispensaries in wards such as Oldonyiro and Chari, many of which are near completion.

The MCAs’ positive remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with a majority of residents expressing appreciation for the governor's efforts. Many locals have acknowledged the tangible transformation witnessed in the county’s health services under his leadership.

With a strong development record across multiple sectors, particularly health, Governor Guyo has won the confidence of many residents. Recent opinion polls suggest he remains the frontrunner to retain his seat in the next election.

In a major boost for public health, the Isiolo County Government has received a consignment of essential medical drugs and supplies valued at twenty-eight million shillings. The delivery is a central part of a targeted strategy to strengthen healthcare services and directly tackle the critical challenges of drug shortages and access across the county’s vast terrain.

The supplies will be immediately distributed to all public health facilities, from rural dispensaries to major hospitals. For residents, this means reliable access to critical treatment closer to home, eliminating the need for long journeys and the frequent disappointment of finding clinics out of stock.

County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Health, Lucy Kaburu, emphasized the human impact of the initiative. "This is about restoring faith and dignity," she stated. "It is a declaration that quality healthcare is a right for every resident of Isiolo, not just a privilege for those in urban centers."

The handover was managed at the Isiolo Teaching and Referral Hospital. Chief Officer for Health, Dr. Mohamud Abdikadir, provided a firm operational timeline, assuring the public that "within this very week, every designated rural health center will have received its allocation."

This significant investment is a key pillar of the county's broader commitment to strengthening Primary Health Care, aiming to build long-term resilience in the local health system and bring tangible hope to thousands of households.

Isiolo County has a total workforce of 1733 employees as per a recent data released by National Cohesion and Integration Commission analyzing ethnic distribution of employees per Counties. The number is cumulative from the day devolution commenced back in 2013 to date and has captured a detailed analysis of both the County Executive employees as well as the County Assembly.

Isiolo Governor in his speech at Chumvi-Yere during a fundraiser notes that out of the total employees about 400 were absorbed from the defunct Isiolo County Council during the advent of devolution and another 300 were transferred to the County the moment a number of functions were taken up by County Government immediately devolution commenced in 2013.

The Governor also noted that since he took office he employed a total of 213 workforce including; 60 Nurses, Clinical Officers, 31 CO'S, CECMs, 10 Accounts, 6 Procurement officers and others. A number of those employed are serving as nurses, accountants, Procurement officers and Clinical Officers on a permanent and pensionable terms contributing to a paltry percentage of the total workforce.

In his address the Governor goes further to note that it is true that the payroll data has a serious anomaly as it does not reflect ethnic balancing within a County considered cosmopolitan. Will take a moment and do an analysis of the ethnic balancing in the payroll as it is.

𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐄𝐄 𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

Of the total 1733 employees 48.99% are from Borana reflecting a total of 849 employees, Meru 270 employees, Somali 143 employees, Sakuye 86, Turkana 75, Samburu 56, Gabra 38, Kikuyu 89 and the other tribes sharing the remaining numbers.

From 2016 to 2022 a total of 816 employees were employed and out of that Borana occupies 52.83% i.e 457 employees, Meru 93, Somali 78, Sakuye 51, Turkana 47, Samburu 42 and the others shared between other tribes.

Ethnic distribution within those in Job Groups P and above normally referred to as higher Cadre employees is occupied by Borana at 51.43% reflecting a total of 54 employees, Meru 8, Somali 14, Sakuye 7, Turkana 3, Samburu 3, Gabra 3 and others sharing the remaining 7 slots.

In Isiolo County Assembly Borana occupy 58.12% (111 employees), Somali 22, Meru 19, Turkana 11, Sakuye 9, Samburu 9, Gabra 5 and the others sharing the remaining 5 positions.

Isiolo County is set to host the Northern Kenya Investment Conference under USAID Kuza which will provide a platform for the Counties of Isiolo, Marsabit and Samburu to present Investment opportunities and attract investors to the region. The one-day conference will be a great avenue for Investors to look into the untapped potential within the Northern Kenya corridor.

USAID Kuza and other partners are looking to bridge Northern Kenya's Investment and financing gap by showcasing the region to both private and development sector investors along the development finance spectrum.

The conference will look at how to mobilize resources, shared risks, and leverage expertise from both private and public sectors to create a more conducive environment for SME growth.
