I joined fellow leaders, the family of Baby Angel, friends, residents of Wiyumiririe, the people of Laikipia East, and the larger Laikipia County community in mourning the horrific and heartbreaking loss of Baby Angel, who was brutally r***d and murdered in Ngobit Ward, Laikipia county.
Words cannot adequately express the pain, anger, and sorrow that this tragedy has brought upon our county. The murder of an innocent child is not just a loss to one family,it is a wound to the conscience of our entire nation. It is a painful reminder that we still have a long journey in protecting our women and children from violence.
Enough is enough.
We must stand together and demand an immediate end to femicide, sexual violence, and all forms of abuse against children. The Constitution of Kenya is clear. Every child has the right to life, dignity, protection, and security. Article 53 guarantees every child protection from abuse, neglect, violence, and inhuman treatment. These constitutional rights must not remain empty promises,they must be lived realities for every Kenyan child.
I call upon the Government, the National Police Service, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and every relevant agency to act with urgency. Let there be a swift, thorough, transparent, and professional investigation. Let every person responsible for this barbaric act be identified, arrested, prosecuted, and punished in accordance with the law. Justice for Baby Angel must not be delayed, and it must not be denied.
We cannot become a society that mourns today and forgets tomorrow. We cannot normalize the killing of our daughters or the violation of our children. Protecting children is not only a constitutional obligation,it is a moral responsibility that belongs to every one of us.
As leaders, parents, and citizens, we must unite in saying never again. Let this tragedy awaken our collective conscience and strengthen our resolve to build a county where every child can grow in safety, every parent can live without fear, and justice is certain for those who prey on the innocent.
To Baby Angel's family, may God grant you strength, comfort, and peace during this unimaginably difficult time. To Baby Angel, though your life was cruelly cut short, your memory will continue to remind us of our duty to protect every child.
May Baby Angel's soul rest in eternal peace.
