STATEMENT BY GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR. ON GEN Z PROTESTS:

‘Yesterday was the 1st Anniversary of the Gen Z demonstrations and youth nationwide came out in large numbers to protest.

Similar demonstrations were held in Makueni County where, regrettably, 2 people were shot and killed by police in Emali and others injured. I wish to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to families and friends of those who lost their lives, and to wish speedy recovery to those admitted to hospital with injuries.

I strongly condemn the use of live bullets to disperse demonstrators. The killing of demonstrators has no place in a modern Kenya.’
