DIG Eliud Lagat Confirms Mobile Courts, Increased Police Presence During Festive Period

Motorists breaking traffic rules during the holidays will face instant justice as police deploy mobile courts and increase enforcement on major highways, including the Nairobi–Nakuru and Nairobi–Mombasa roads.

Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat says traffic hotspots have been mapped and more officers deployed to prevent congestion, accidents and crime.

Police have also recalled officers from leave, activated multi-agency command centres, and stepped up security at tourist sites, malls, churches and entertainment spots.

Authorities are urging the public to cooperate for a safe and peaceful festive season.

KUPPET has accused the Teachers Service Commission of failing to implement President William Ruto’s directives on teacher promotions, intern absorption and CBA reforms.

The union says TSC has not sought funding to promote an extra 25,000 teachers, convert 20,000 interns into permanent staff, or act on promises made at a State House meeting in September.

Union leaders have also raised concerns over affordable housing, career progression reforms and the transition of teachers’ medical cover, warning of “serious measures” if delays persist.

Canada-based preacher Prophet Carmel marked his birthday in style, drawing warm public tributes from his wife, Reverend Lucy Natasha, and his “spiritual daughter,” Karen Rajan.

Rev Natasha penned a heartfelt message celebrating her husband as her “strength” and “answered prayer,” while Karen also shared photos and a birthday note praising her spiritual father.

The celebrations included a cosy dinner outing, with images shared on Instagram.

The birthday posts come weeks after Prophet Carmel dismissed online speculation about his marriage, reaffirming that Rev Lucy Natasha is his only wife and that Karen Rajan is strictly his spiritual daughter.

Court halts Sh6.16bn NYS payments.

The EACC has secured orders stopping the National Youth Service from paying out Sh6.16 billion to several companies over alleged fake contracts for goods that were never supplied.

The case is now before the Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi.

As the world marks International Minority Rights Day, KNCHR has called on the government to move from policy to action in protecting minority, marginalized and indigenous communities.

The commission wants full implementation of court rulings on the Ogiek, Endorois, Kipsigis and Talai cases, stronger land rights protections, and laws guaranteeing free, prior and informed consent for indigenous peoples.

“Progress has been made, but implementation gaps remain,” KNCHR said.
