CCTV Technician Arrested in Connection to Albert Ojwang’s Death Cover-Up
In a chilling twist to the ongoing investigation into the death of Albert Ojwang’, a 31-year-old teacher and activist who died in police custody, a technician has confessed to deliberately disabling the CCTV system at Nairobi Central Police Station.
Kelvin Mutisya Matava admitted he was paid just Sh3,000 to erase footage from the night Ojwang was killed. According to authorities, he was instructed to wipe the surveillance data. Instead of deleting a specific clip, he formatted the entire system and erased critical evidence.
This revelation follows the arrest of Constable James Mukhwana, who is expected to be charged with murder. Meanwhile, more police officers are under investigation as details of torture, missing footage, and cover-up attempts come to light.
As Kenyans demand justice, the technician’s confession sheds new light on the extent of the cover-up and just how cheaply human rights can be sold.
