Long post alert!
Remember my Facebook therapy sessions? Yeah, the ones where I was basically losing my mind over my forever-sick child? Of course you do, it was practically a series. But in case you just joined the circus, here’s a recap!
So, my daughter used to fall sick like it was a full-time job. Coughs? Check. Tonsillitis? Regularly scheduled. Blocked nose at night? Every single night.
I tried everything, remedies, Google, Facebook aunties’ wisdom. My comment section was basically a hospital board meeting. Even the doctor had to step in with his two cents.
And guess what the miracle cure was? Drumroll please…
We stopped giving her sugar. I know, groundbreaking, right? Bye bye candies, chocolates, sodas, fruit juice, cakes, and those evil little tubs of yoghurt that pretend to be healthy. Yeah, yoghurt, the sweetened ones are the actual villains here!
And just like that, my resident patient suddenly started living like a normal child. No meds, no drama, no coughing concerts at 2 a.m. These days, she only gets sick when she sneaks in something sugary. Poetic justice, really.
Now, credit where it’s due, the transition was powered by one tiny thing: terror.
Our doctor basically threatened to snip off her ears, nose, and mouth if she ever touched sweets again. Very motivational. Worked like a charm. She was so traumatized, she wouldn’t even touch birthday cake at school.
Fast forward to now, she’s out here preaching the anti-sugar gospel to her classmates like a mini nutrition influencer. Ask her what gift she wants? She’ll say fruits.
Fruits. I raised a wellness ambassador. Sugar is the enemy!
And that’s the tea, my loves. The saga of how we defeated sugar and raised a reformed, very healthy child. ❤️
