🚨 Youth Unemployment in Kenya: A Call to Action 🚨
Kenya’s youth (15–24) face unemployment rates of around 12%, with the 20–24 age group even higher at 15%. Yet the numbers only tell part of the story:
👉 Nearly 800,000 young people enter the labor force each year, but only 200,000 jobs are created.
👉 Up to 90% of new jobs remain informal, often unstable and low-paying.
👉 True joblessness, factoring in underemployment, may affect nearly 4 in 10 young people.
At Radishare Kenya, we believe this challenge can only be solved by investing in grassroots solutions:
- who are closest to communities, driving mentorship, skilling, and social impact at the frontline.
- the engines of local economies, where innovation, digitization, and entrepreneurship can create dignified jobs for young people.
Through our CBO mentorship program and MSME support initiatives, Radishare Kenya is working with partners to:
1. Champion youth-led enterprises.
2. Strengthen digital and business skills.
3. Open pathways for decent and sustainable employment.
Youth unemployment isn’t just a statistic, it’s an urgent call to action. If we empower CBOs, MSMEs, and ecosystem partners, we can turn Kenya’s youth bulge into a youth dividend.
