HEADLINE: NINE YEARS LATER, KIANANGI’S DISAPPEARANCE REMAINS A MYSTERY
Nine years have passed since popular Kikuyu comedian and actor Geoffrey Mwangi Waweru, popularly known as Kianangi, disappeared without a trace.
Kianangi went missing on September 21, 2017, after leaving his home in Kasarani, Nairobi. According to his family, he was headed to help his ailing mother get to hospital.
However, hours later, the vehicle he had been travelling in was found abandoned near Membley Estate along the Ruiru Bypass. The vehicle was reportedly found intact, but Kianangi was nowhere to be found.
His disappearance has continued to raise questions, with his family and friends calling for authorities to establish what happened to him. His wife, Catherine Njeri, has previously appealed for a fresh investigation into the case.
There have also been allegations from police sources that Kianangi may have been involved in criminal activities. His family and colleagues have strongly denied those allegations.
Despite years of searching and appeals for answers, Kianangi’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Nine years on, his family is still waiting for answers: What happened to Kianangi, and where is he today?
This is Ryan Mwaura, reporting.
