SUSPECTED DOG MEAT FOR SALE – PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN

This evening, irate residents of Majengo intercepted three individuals suspected of engaging in illegal meat trade. The suspects, who appreared to be carrying suspicious cargo, dropped the sack and fled the scene after being challenged by the concerned residents.

A quick inspection of the sack revealed a dog carcass along with two sharp knives, strongly indicating a case of illegal slaughter. They then quickly informed public health officers who also collaborated with the police to properly dispose off the carcass. They have also issued an alert on future activities of the suspects

The presence of a canine carcass and slaughter tools suggests the potential intent to introduce dog meat into the local food supply, possibly targeting unsuspecting consumers through street food vendors.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant ( Community Based Surveillance) and report any suspicious food handling or meat-selling activities to the public health officers , Police or local authorities.
