SC OTIENDE AMOLLO CROWNED BEST PERFORMING MP IN SIAYA COUNTY

In a move that reaffirms his status as a national icon of service and legal intellect, Hon. Dr. Otiende Amollo, S.C., M.P., has been officially ranked as the Best Performing Member of Parliament in Siaya County for 2025.

The recognition comes at a pivotal moment in Kenyan politics, as Dr. Amollo continues to serve as a key architect within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)—the party now serving as a cornerstone of the nation’s Broad-Based Government.

Dr. Amollo’s top ranking in Siaya is no surprise to those who have followed his storied career. A Senior Counsel and former Ombudsman (Chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice), Dr. Amollo has spent over two decades transforming Kenya’s legal and social landscape. From his critical role in the Committee of Experts that drafted the Constitution of Kenya 2010 to his historic successful petition of the 2017 Presidential Election, his name is synonymous with the defense of the rule of law.

As the representative for Rarieda, Dr. Amollo’s performance has been characterized by:
🏆Legislative Mastery - Bringing his deep expertise in Constitutional Law to the floor of the House to champion human rights and healthcare legislation, including the HIV/AIDS Management and Control Act.
🏆Alternative Dispute Resolution - Utilizing his skills as a Certified Professional Mediator (CPM) to foster unity and development within the Nyanza region.
🏆Grassroots Impact - Delivering tangible development results that have placed him at the summit of the Siaya leadership rankings.

As the National Chairperson of ODM (Governor Gladys Wanga), leads alongside him in the region, Dr. Amollo’s influence stretches from the villages of Rarieda to the highest offices in Nairobi. His recent Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) commendation is a reflection of a man who has mastered the art of balancing national political strategy with the day-to-day needs of his constituents.

For the people of Siaya, Dr. Amollo is more than just a legislator; he is a testament to what happens when academic brilliance meets a heart for public service.

BREAKING NEWS: EMBU HEALTH LEADERSHIP DOMINATES NATIONAL & REGIONAL PERFORMANCE RANKINGS

The Embu County Executive has set a new national standard for governance, with its top officials sweeping the 2025 performance rankings across both regional and national levels.

In a historic win for the county, Hon. Jamal Runyenje Ogw, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, has been ranked as the 3rd Best Performing CECM overall in Kenya. This ranking places Hon. Runyenje at the pinnacle of county administration nationally, outperforming hundreds of his peers across all 47 counties.
Closer to home, Hon. Runyenje was also named the Best Performing CECM in the Eastern Region and the Best Performing CECM in Embu County.

Further cementing the Department’s dominance, Chief Officer for Medical Services, Mr. Benjamin Kisilu, has been recognized as the Best Performing Chief Officer in Embu County.

The duo’s recognition is being attributed to a radical, two-year strategic transformation within the health sector, including:
🏆Legislative Milestones - The successful implementation of the Facility Improvement Financing (FIF) Act, ensuring hospitals have the financial autonomy to self-sustain.
🏆Infrastructural Growth - The launch of a modern emergency unit and a massive upgrade of medical equipment across County facilities.
🏆Integrity and Accountability - Securing a prestigious Unqualified Audit Report from the Auditor General in the first year of FIF;a rare feat in public health management.
🏆Operational Efficiency - A complete overhaul of logistics through digitization and the National Logistics Management Information System (LMIS).

Analysts point out that Hon. Runyenje’s #3 national ranking is a direct reflection of the high-performance culture established by H.E. Governor Hon. Cecily Mbarire, EGH. By empowering her cabinet to innovate in resource mobilization and human resource management, the Governor has transformed Embu into a case study for successful devolution.

The triple recognition of Hon. Runyenje; at the county, regional, and national levels; alongside Mr. Kisilu’s top ranking, sends a clear message: Embu’s Health Team is currently one of the most effective administrative units in the country.

THE MATRIARCHS OF DEVOLUTION: MBARIRE AND WANGA SWEEP REGIONAL RANKINGS AMID HISTORIC PARTY LEADERSHIP.

The landscape of Kenyan governance and political leadership is undergoing a seismic shift, led by two trailblazing women who have now been confirmed as the highest-performing regional heads in the country.

H.E. Hon. Cecily Mbarire, EGH (Embu) and H.E Governor Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) have emerged at the top of the 2025 performance indices, respectively crowned the Best Performing Governor in the Eastern Region and the Best Performing Governor in Nyanza.

Beyond their gubernatorial duties, both leaders are currently making history as the chairpersons of Kenya's two largest political parties. This dual-command role is unprecedented in the nation's history:

🔥Governor Cecily Mbarire serves as the National Chairperson of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). She holds the distinction of being the first woman in Kenyan history to chair a ruling party.

🔥Governor Gladys Wanga serves as the National Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), also making history as the first woman to lead the party in that capacity.

With UDA and ODM now forming the backbone of Kenya’s Broad-Based Government, Mbarire and Wanga are effectively the administrative and political gatekeepers of the nation's stability. Their leadership has redefined the "G7" caucus, moving beyond advocacy into the realm of absolute executive dominance.

While Mbarire celebrates her regional win alongside her ranking as the #2 Most Influential Woman in Kenya 2025, Governor Wanga has been recognized as the Most Progressive Governor in Kenya, a testament to her innovative approach to devolution in Homa Bay.

By managing the nation’s largest party machineries while delivering top-tier county performance—including Embu’s recent #2 national ranking in Health and a clean audit record—these two governors are proving that women's leadership is the next frontier to watch.

As 2025 draws to a close, the "Mountain Queen" and the "Nyanza Trailblazer" have not just broken the glass ceiling—they have dismantled it entirely.

The Embu County Department of Health Services has achieved a dual milestone in operational excellence and financial transparency. By ranking 2nd best-performing nationwide in the National LMIS Performance Report, the department has demonstrated a sophisticated mastery of medical supply chain management and real-time inventory monitoring. This ensures that the people of Embu have reliable access to essential medicine through a system built on data precision.

Simultaneously, the department received an Unqualified Audit Opinion from the Auditor General regarding its Facility Improvement Fund (FIF). This "clean bill of health" validates the county's commitment to financial integrity, proving that health resources are being managed with absolute accountability. Together, these achievements signal a new era of health governance excellence for the region, celebrated during the recent year-end review which also honored the dedicated service of retiring colleagues.

In a shocking demonstration of financial self-interest over public duty, former Chief Officer Jane Karimi alias Ndagitari is now facing a fierce reckoning as critics detail how her "dismal" performance and outright refusal to forego a 50K per diem payment nearly sabotaged a critical multi-million donor project—a betrayal of trust now compounded by her public feuds and questionable alliances with others who were fired for incompetence.

Vision Impact Project Closes, Reporting Massive Gains in Embu Eye Health

A four-year initiative to enhance eye health in Embu County, the Vision Impact Project, concluded today, with results demonstrating remarkable reach and impact. The project's findings were presented at a close-out meeting attended by Governor H.E. Cecily Mbarire.

The comprehensive partnership successfully screened over 273,000 community members and provided treatment to more than 61,000. Furthermore, focused school efforts saw 153,000 learners screened, with nearly 28,500 receiving necessary treatment.

According to the County Governor, the project has successfully "safeguarded sight, improved learning outcomes, and prevented avoidable blindness" across the county.

The initiative was made possible through a collaboration of partners, including the Christian Blind Mission (CBM), which provided funding; the Fred Hollows Foundation, which was commended for its technical leadership; and the Kenya Society for the Blind and PEEK Vision, recognized for ensuring service delivery to those most in need.

The successful completion of the Vision Impact Project is cited as a significant example of how multi-agency partnerships can address critical public health challenges effectively.
