Just now I logged into Facebook and the first thing that appeared on my timeline was the sad news of a young student. I'm not even sure which school he was in, but honestly, I feel like logging out and deleting my Facebook account. 🥺💔
Tell me why people were all seated in that bus and allowed the conductor of a Nicco bus to throw out a student simply because he didn't have enough fare. What happened to us as a society? How do you see a student in distress and choose not to intervene or contribute a few shillings to help him?
I'm heartbroken.
On Wednesday, I received an emergency message from my daughter's school at around 2 p.m., asking all parents and guardians to pick up their children immediately. In the blink of an eye, my guardian received a call from my daughter saying, "Auntie, please send me fare now, now!" Then the call dropped, and the line became so busy that nobody could get through.
I keep asking myself: what if my daughter didn't have a guardian to call? What if she couldn't get help? Could she have found herself in the same situation simply because she didn't have enough bus fare?
Why did everyone in that bus allow it to happen? Kwani hiyo gari ilikuwa inalipwa shilingi ngapi ambayo hamngechangia mwanafunzi mmoja? Mkamwacha hadi akapoteza maisha?
Oh Lord! Kwani tuko enzi gani? Mbona utu umekwisha kwa watu? 😭💔
