𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬,
Today, our colleague Barasa, the officer who shot and killed Boniface the mask seller, has officially had murder charges approved against him by the ODPP.
In court, he stood alone.
No colleagues.
No friends.
No senior bosses.
Just him and his close family.
Let this sink in..
When the gun was issued, it came with personal responsibility. And when he pulled the trigger, the consequences became his alone.
We all have lessons to learn from this.
I won’t tell you what to do, but let me advise you as a brother in service: Be wise when handling our fellow Kenyans. The power we carry must be used with great discipline and restraint.
Every deployment, every patrol, every gun issued the final decision is yours.
Some situations will require you to use force. But many more will require you to use your brain and judgment.
The truth is harsh:
When things go wrong, you will be alone.
So please, mtu wangu tumia akili.
Protect your life, protect your job, and most importantly protect others.
Ni hayo tu kwa jioni ya leo.
