LONG STORY BUT WORTH READING.
Also this was one of the TBT videos that wasn't posted when I ran out of data last night.
It's a video of a song of some of the little things I did for you the great people of Nairobi.
I remember a certain stupid former PS of Internal Security whom early this year I won a defamation case he had filed against me when he was very powerful.
At one time, he called me and warned me that I was moving very fast in terms of implementing development projects and that I needed to slow down.
In this video, I want my brother Governor Johnson to pick some of my ideas and projects which were abandoned when I was removed from office after smear campaign, diversionary tactics and character assassination sponsored by the deep state through various media houses.
First, we had only one fire station along Tom Tboya street, under my leadership, we procured 35 brand new fire engines from Belgium.
We projected to have more fire stations in every sub county/ constituency and we started off with Kangundo Road fire station, then Waithaka fire station, Ruaraka fire station, Gigiri fire station in partnership with a tycoon who had grabbed a county land but was to compensate the county by doing another fire station in a land adjacent to the one he had grabbed.
Further, we were to do five FIFA standard stadia, unfortunately only Dandora stadium was 98% complete by the time I was removed from office and only did ground breaking for Kihumbuini Westlands Stadium while Ziwani Kariakor, Muhuri Muchiri, Kibra and Dagoreti stadia never took off.
We did new modern markets at Kirandini in Dagoreti, Kariakor, Kangundo road, Kariakor leather market and upgraded City Park market.
Further, we renovated and upgraded Pumwani Maternity Hospital where we installed new lifts, added modern equipment in the theatres and wards, installed the only milk bank in East and Central Africa, gave the entire hospital a new attractive facelift and installed a modern morgue.
At Mama Lucy Kibaku hospital, we completed a 3 storeyed maternity wing and constructed and equipped our own oxygen plant in partnership with our international partners.
In Kayole, we opened a new maternity hospital and the same in Baba Ndogo and Viwandani Lunga Lunga slums in partnership with the Kenya Pipeline Company.
We also opened a TB hospital in Kangemi in Westlands sub county.
On matters of the environment, we initiated the beautification of roads by planting green grass and flowers along the Mombasa road, Jogoo road among other areas.
In collaboration with the United Nations Habitat and various diplomatic missions and embassies, we launched and conducted very successful monthly clean ups across the 17 sub counties on every first Saturday of every month.
Under public works, we rehabilitated and rejuvenated our bitumen plant at Nanyuki road. We were therefore able to produce our own bitumen to repair and maintain our roads.
As a cost cutting measure,we engaged our own staff, county road engineers to do roads, as we fixed the drainage system across the city.
Under housing, we launched our own affordable housing projects in Pangani, Jivanjee and partnered with the national government to do the Ngara housing project.
One good thing is that under my leadership, there was no forceful evictions of tenants, instead they were offered cash compensation and a further offer of free county trucks to transport their household items to their new respective locations as they wait for the completion of their respective housing projects.
In the arrangements, we had an agreement that the relocated tenants were to be given first priority once the houses were completed and ready for occupation.
Under health, under my leadership, at Mbagathi hospital, we have a Renal Unit fully equipped with uktra-modern dialysis machines.
Under roads, several estate roads were carpeted.
The Kangemi Memorial Park which was once a cemetery and later turned into a dump site is one of the projects under my leadership.
Under staff motivation, under my leadership, salaries were paid up not later than 25th of every month.
Further, due to prompt and better service delivery, under my administration, revenue collection was efficient and salaries were paid from our own generated revenue.
We also automated revenue collection and stopped cash collection of revenue which was a source of corruption by some corrupt county staff.
This system led to high revenue collection and we surpused revenue targets and allocated more funds to development expenditure as opposed to recurrent expenditure.
Under my leadership I also initiated serious programmes of rehabilitation of street children where street families were flushed from the CBD and transferred to rehabilitation centres in Makadara, Kayole, Joseph Kangethethe, Shauri Moyo and Bahati. They were later enrolled in schools.
