Quadarius Holloman, 19, Identified After Fatal Shooting in Colerain, North Carolina; Bertie County Homicide Investigation Underway

Quadarius Holloman, 19, of Edenton, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Colerain, North Carolina, as authorities investigate the case as a homicide.

Deputies were called around 3:51 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of a person lying on the ground and not breathing near Nowell Farm Road and Meadow Road.

A deputy arriving minutes later found Holloman deceased at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds. His next of kin has been notified.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, is conducting interviews and following up on leads to determine what happened and identify anyone who may have information.

Authorities are also warning the public about a photograph of Holloman circulating on social media. The sheriff’s office is asking people not to share or repost the image, saying material containing the photograph could potentially be seized as evidence as investigators work to preserve information related to the case.

Riley Berryhill, 12, Found Safe in Arkansas After Authorities Say Brandon Britten Traveled From Arkansas to South Carolina and Kidnapped Her; Britten and Wife Arrested

Riley Berryhill, 12, has been found safe in Arkansas after authorities say she was groomed online and allegedly taken from South Carolina by an adult man who had been communicating with her.

The seventh-grader was last seen around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a McDonald’s in Woodruff, South Carolina. Surveillance footage showed her getting into a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu shortly afterward.

Investigators eventually used Flock license-plate camera footage to identify the vehicle and trace it more than 500 miles to Independence County, Arkansas. Deputies went to an address associated with the vehicle and found Riley inside around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, roughly 24 hours after she disappeared.

Authorities identified Brandon Lee Britten, 31, as the suspect and said he had traveled from Arkansas to South Carolina to meet Riley. He was arrested and faces a kidnapping charge. Additional charges may follow as investigators continue examining the case.

Britten’s wife, Sierra Britten, was also taken into custody in Arkansas. Authorities indicated she could face charges, but specific allegations against her have not yet been fully released.

Riley was placed in protective custody and is expected to undergo physical and mental health evaluations before returning to South Carolina. Authorities have not publicly disclosed whether she was physically harmed.

Sheriff Chuck Wright warned that investigators believe Riley had been groomed through social media, saying predators prey on children. The investigation remains ongoing.

Missouri Father Noah Humphus, 23, Accused of Shaking and Swinging Infant Daughter Upside Down to “Toughen” Her Up; Baby Suffered Multiple Broken Bones

Noah Humphus, 23, has been arrested in Missouri after his infant daughter was hospitalized with multiple fractures and bruising in what authorities say was a case of suspected child abuse.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the baby suffered fractured ribs, a broken femur, facial and torso bruising, and injuries consistent with being shaken.

The infant’s mother reportedly told police Humphus shook the baby regularly and allegedly said being rough with children was a way to “toughen” them up. Investigators say Humphus later admitted shaking the child when she cried and he became frustrated.

Police also allege Humphus demonstrated on a doll how he would hold the baby upside down and swing her by her legs. Doctors reportedly found injuries in different stages of healing, indicating the injuries may have occurred over an extended period.

Humphus allegedly told investigators he had abused the child between 10 and 20 times, according to the affidavit.

He faces charges of child abuse with physical injury and child endangerment and is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

12-Year-Old Dominic Caruselle Found Safe and Unharmed in Texas Nearly 1,000 Miles From Hilton Head Island After Being Reported Missing

Dominic Caruselle, 12, has been found safe and unharmed in Texas after he was reported missing from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said Dominic was located in Chambers County, Texas, at approximately 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 — roughly 1,000 miles from where he was reported missing.

Dominic’s family reported him missing shortly before 8 a.m. Monday after realizing he was gone. Investigators determined early in the search that he had already left Beaufort County.

Authorities had previously said they believed Dominic may have left during the night with someone he knew. However, officials have not released details about how he traveled to Texas, who he was with, or how investigators located him.

There have been no public reports indicating that Dominic was injured, and authorities confirmed that he was found safe and unharmed.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and trip to Texas remain under investigation. Additional information may be released as authorities continue their work.

Samuel Jerome Andrews, 71, Charged With Two Counts of First-Degree Murder After Gulfport AT&T Shooting Kills Employee Shane Basquill, 31, and Customer Mary Anne Oberlies, 78; Suspect Arrested With Fi***rm Recovered

A 71-year-old Harrison County man is facing two counts of first-degree murder after a shooting at an AT&T store on Crossroads Parkway in Gulfport, Mississippi, left an employee and a customer dead.

Police identified the suspect as Samuel Jerome Andrews. The victims were Shane Basquill, 31, an AT&T employee from Kiln, and Mary Anne Oberlies, 78, a Gulfport customer.

According to an eyewitness, Andrews arrived at the store in a truck carrying what appeared to be a sh***un. The witness said Basquill attempted to lock the entrance before Andrews allegedly fired.

Responding officers later spotted Andrews’ vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Andrews was taken into custody without incident, and police recovered a fi***rm.

Andrews has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of shooting into a crowd. He is being held without bond on the murder charges and on a $500,000 bond for the shooting-into-a-crowd charge.

Investigators also executed a search warrant at Andrews’ home on Five Oaks Drive as they continued gathering evidence.

Authorities have not released a confirmed motive and said they do not currently know of any relationship between Andrews and the two victims.

Peyton Hoyle, Clinton High School Senior and Beloved Cheerleader and Varsity Volleyball Player, Dies Unexpectedly; School Announces Memorial and Candlelight Vigil

The Clinton High School community in Clinton, Arkansas, is mourning the unexpected death of senior Peyton Hoyle, a beloved cheerleader and member of the varsity volleyball team.

School officials announced Peyton’s passing Sunday, Sept. 6, saying the school will provide counseling and support resources for students and staff as the community grieves.

A memorial service honoring Peyton is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton High School Auditorium.

A candlelight vigil will follow from 7 to 8 p.m. in the school parking lot.

A Meal Train has also been organized to support Peyton’s family during this heartbreaking time.

The school community is coming together to remember Peyton and support one another as they mourn the loss of a young life.

Jerimiah Thomas Jones Jr., 22, Charged With Child Abuse and Offenses After 17-Month-Old Girl Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries; Held Without Bond in Baltimore County

A 22-year-old Halethorpe man is being held without bond after a 17-month-old girl suffered severe, potentially life-threatening injuries while she was in his care, according to Baltimore County police and court documents.

Jerimiah Thomas Jones Jr. was arrested Aug. 25 after investigators began looking into the toddler’s injuries, which included severe internal injuries and bleeding that required a blood transfusion.

Prosecutors said during an Aug. 26 bail hearing that a specially trained SAFE nurse described the injuries as the most severe she had encountered during 16 years of experience. Prosecutors also said the injuries could have been fatal without prompt medical treatment.

According to charging documents, the incident occurred July 13 while Jones was caring for the toddler and two other children. Jones told investigators he was changing the girl's diaper when he lost his balance and accidentally injured her.

Authorities said medical experts determined that explanation did not account for the severity of the injuries.

Jones faces charges including first-degree child abuse causing severe physical injury, second-degree child abuse. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to 85 years in prison.

A judge ordered Jones held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 18.

Jonathon Severs, 30, Killed by Kentucky Deputies After Allegedly Abducting Estranged Wife Tracy Pearce, 37, Who Was Found Dead in His Vehicle; Pursuit Ended in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

A deadly domestic violence incident in western Kentucky ended with two people dead after authorities said a woman was abducted from a home, her estranged husband was pursued by police, and officers fatally shot him.

Authorities identified the woman as 37-year-old Tracy Pearce and the man as her estranged husband, 30-year-old Jonathon Severs of Owensboro.

According to investigators, deputies first responded to Pearce’s mother’s home in Ohio County for a welfare check. Pearce initially told deputies she was safe.

Later that night, authorities said Severs arrived at the home, shot a resident and forcibly took Pearce, then fled in his vehicle. Pearce’s mother was airlifted to a Louisville hospital for treatment. Several children were reportedly inside the home and witnessed Pearce being taken, but were not physically injured.

Deputies later spotted Severs’ vehicle and began a pursuit. Investigators said the chase ended on Morgantown Road in Daviess County, where Severs allegedly rammed a police vehicle.

Authorities said Severs then exited the vehicle armed with a handgun and refused commands to surrender. Deputies opened fire, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pearce was later found dead inside Severs’ vehicle.

Four deputies involved in the fatal shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which authorities said is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.

The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the officer-involved shooting, while the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting and reported abduction at the residence.

The investigations remain ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about what led to the deadly confrontation.

Bradley Clouse, 33, Killed in Machine-Related Workplace Accident at Astemo Americas Plant in Berea, Kentucky; State OSHA Investigating Tragic Death

A 33-year-old Richmond, Kentucky, worker was killed Wednesday morning in a machine-related workplace incident at an automotive manufacturing plant in Berea.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Bradley Clouse, 33, of Richmond. Emergency crews were called to the Astemo Americas plant on Mayde Road shortly before 7:45 a.m., where Clouse was pronounced dead.

Clouse worked in maintenance at Astemo and had been with the company since March 2023. The company described his death as a “tragic accident” and expressed condolences to his family, friends and coworkers.

His wife, Chelsea Clouse, whom he married in 2019, is now mourning the sudden loss of her husband.

Astemo suspended operations at its Berea 2 facility Wednesday and Thursday and sent employees home. A corporate safety team was brought in to help determine what happened.

The Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health division and local authorities are investigating. Clouse’s body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The tragedy came just one day after Astemo announced a more than $112 million expansion of its Berea operations, expected to create jobs and add nearly 300,000 square feet of production and warehouse space.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not released further details about exactly how the fatal incident occurred.

Antonio Portillo, 66, Killed in Fort Bend County U.S. 90 Crash After Honda Sedan Crosses Into Oncoming Truck; 2 Children Injured

A 66-year-old truck driver from Sealy, Texas, was killed Tuesday morning, September 1, in a devastating crash on U.S. Highway 90 in Fort Bend County.

Authorities identified the victim as Antonio Portillo, 66. He was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer near FM 1952/Tavener Road when a 2025 Honda sedan traveling in the opposite direction crossed into the truck’s path.

The collision caused Portillo’s tractor-trailer to overturn. Emergency crews responded, but the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced Portillo dead at the scene.

The Honda was being driven by a 16-year-old girl and had a 10-year-old boy as a passenger. Both, from East Bernard, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate why the Honda crossed into the oncoming lanes.

Portillo is being remembered by friends and fellow drivers as a hardworking and dependable truck driver.
