Cleophas Malala, a playwright , holds a Master of Performing Arts Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems. His award-winning play in 2013 titled “Shackles of Doom” for Butere Girls High School was censored due to its contents believed to border on hate speech. This was the Play that Thrust him to Public limelight while he was a MCA.
Malala scripted the Contentious Echoes of War which was ranked at number 3 at the Regionals, qualifying Butere Girls for the Nationals. He has been abducted by police and bundled into a car, driven to an unknown destination.
Arresting Cleophas Malala, just a day before Butere Girls performed his play, Echoes of War, is stupidity. This will only make the play more popular. This Government of President Ruto loves shooting its own foot.
Creativity is not a crime. Cleophas Malala is a Master who should be celebrated for using Art to fight for Democracy and Human Rights
