I attended a spectacular mental health summit by

Under the theme “Wires & Signals,” we examined whether current systems, from Al-driven interventions to global health financing, are designed to genuinely support young people’s wellbeing.

Two days of stimulating conversations.

“I want to emphasize the value of your science-driven model. At a time when science is questioned and when evidence is debated, initiatives like Shamiri’s matter. Good policy depends on good science.

The fact that Shamir’s work is grounded in rigorous data makes it a powerful engine for innovation.

Solutions today are not confined by geography. There is no longer a North-South divide where one side holds answers and the other holds problems.

With the level of innovation we see here, especially among young Kenyans, solutions can emerge from anywhere. And what is created here can scale globally!” - Opening keynote remarks by H.E. Ambassador Arnaud Suquet

A key takeaway is that Mental health work doesn’t happen in a silo.

The need for policymakers, researchers, doers, tech experts, and educators working together is essential. If we don’t act, nothing will change. Someone has to take a new step for us to shape the future we want.

Try something new was clearly the future of mental wellbeing, “even if it feels small or even if it fails.”

Every idea, every test, and every conversation helps move this work forward.

Stay tuned for more lessons and reflections from I can’t wait to see how 2026 goes.

I’ll always be so thankful to Michael for introducing me to the world of puppeteering. 💕

PODCAST COMING SOON!

I’m beyond excited to announce I’ve got a podcast called Overthinking Out Loud coming soon.

Overthinking Out Loud is a raw, reflective, and relatable
mental health podcast where big thoughts, intrusive
questions, and emotional spirals get a voice not shame.

Each episode explores the complexities of the mind
through honest solo reflections, vulnerable guest
conversations, and professional insights that affirm one
truth: you’re not alone in your overthinking and
sometimes, thinking out loud is where the healing begins.

Whether it’s burnout, boundaries, anxiety, imposter
syndrome, or joy in survival, the podcast gives space to
say the unsaid with humor, grace, and clarity.

Thank you so much to the incredible team for bringing this to life!

!! INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHT!!

I had the honour of interviewing the world’s first African American punk band DEATH.

The Hackney brothers (David, Bobby, and Dannis) started out as a funk band, but upon being introduced to acts like Alice Cooper, MC5 and the Stooges, they turned to hard rock. Often described as “proto-punk,” Death preceded the Ramones and has a legitimate claim as the world’s first punk band.

Death is an American musical group formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1971 by brothers Bobby (bass, vocals), David (guitar), and Dannis Hackney (drums, percussion).

The Hackney Brothers (and now sons) are widely regarded as one of the very first groups to play punk, and undoubtedly the first all-Black punk Band, the Hackney brothers also recorded an essential album that changed the image of rock music for so many people and allowed shows like The Fuse to thrive.

The Hackney brothers recorded an essential album in 1975, and have a truly incredible story, masterfully documented by Drafthouse Films with the film “A Band Called Death.”

Bobby Hackney, David Hackney, and Dannis Hackney have forever changed the world of rock. Thank you.

Bobby Hackney, Eurien Hackney and Bobby JR Hackney reminded Kenyans what it means to Rock out. (Shout out to Mama Death for adding me to the family)

We talked about why they were repeatedly told to change the name “Death,” what proto-punk is all about and so much more.
