I had an exciting conversation with on the first ever Bartender week
The Kenya Bartender Week (KBW), was the first of its kind in the country, and took place place from 2nd to 8th September 2025. The week-long celebration spotlighted the creativity, innovation, and community spirit fueling Kenya’s vibrant bartending and
cocktail culture.
Kenya Bartender Week aimed to build and unite the wider Kenyan bartender community, promote local ingredients and spirits, and position Nairobi as a purposeful destination for world-class cocktails and hospitality as a whole. It also formed parts of a global bartenders week movement, with cities like New York and Mumbai taking part.
The inaugural edition offered a platform for local and international bartenders, bars,
brands, and consumers to connect and celebrate their craft.
Highlights of Kenya Bartender Week included:
- Bar Takeovers featuring top local and international bartender
- Masterclasses and Workshops designed to upskill and inspire industry
professionals.
- Cocktail Festival, a ticketed event featuring 20-25 pop-up bars, tasting portions,
brand sponsor stands, and food pop-ups, as well as some educational panels
and sessions.
