There’s a lot happening. Globally. Locally. Personally. Sometimes it feels like everything is moving at 100kph emotions, opinions, news, drama, wins, losses, people coming, people going, highs and lows all mixed in the same hour.
In the middle of all this noise, I’m learning something that should be simple but isn’t always easy: listening before responding. I used to think quick answers showed intelligence or control. But nowadays, I’m seeing the strength in silence. The wisdom in the pause.
Even when I think I already have the answer, I’m choosing to slow down. Listen deeply. Reflect first. Then respond. That small shift will change so much in how I engage with people, how I deal with conflict, even how I speak to myself.
I’ve also realized how important it is to hear both sides of a story before picking where to stand. The truth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s hidden beneath layers. If you’re not careful, you get pulled into battles that aren’t yours or end up standing on the wrong side not because you’re malicious, but because you didn’t take time to really listen.
So as we enter the second half of the year, this is where I’m at: I’m listening more. To people. To energy. To silence. To God. To the lessons life is trying to teach me quietly.
The goal isn’t to have more to say. The goal is to understand more, even if it means saying less.
